The 1.1 update for Palworld will introduce a feature that players have been demanding for a while now, Pocketpair has confirmed. The catch, however, is that the developer isn’t yet ready to reveal what that feature is, though it has shared some other details about what Palworld fans can expect from the upcoming patch.
Pocketpair began publicly discussing Version 1.1 in mid-August 2026, when publishing and communications lead John “Bucky” Buckley shared a photo from a “brainstorming session” focused on the game’s next major release. He also invited fans to suggest additions they wanted to see. The request, made shortly after Pocketpair released Palworld update 1.0.3, drew around 1,700 responses within a day, prompting Buckley to clarify that ideas such as a new continent or another 20 levels were well beyond the studio’s plans for Version 1.1.
Palworld Update 1.1 Will Have a ‘Big Specific Feature’
Speaking to GamesRadar+ at Gamescom 2026, Buckley revealed that one substantial addition has nevertheless made the cut. He described it as a “big specific feature” that players have been requesting “for a while,” all the while declining to say what it actually is. His comments indicate that the addition predates Pocketpair’s recent call for suggestions and was already being considered while the studio was working on the massive Palworld 1.0 update.
Palworld’s Upcoming Mystery Feature Was Already Considered for 1.0 Update
Pocketpair apparently considered including the mystery feature in Version 1.0 before ultimately deciding against it. Buckley explained that the studio already had so much it wanted to accomplish with the full release that adding another major element risked getting in the way. With that milestone now complete, Pocketpair feels more comfortable pursuing ideas that may fall outside its original vision for the game. What exactly fits that description remains unclear, leaving little basis for making educated guesses about the nature of the upcoming feature.
The 1.1 patch is also being designed on a much smaller overall scale than Version 1.0. Buckley previously said Pocketpair is “not planning to spend a year” on the 1.1 build, explicitly pointing to requests for whole new continents and major level-cap increases as examples of work that falls outside its intended scope. That approach is consistent with the smaller updates Pocketpair has released since the full launch, beginning with the first post-1.0 Palworld patch in mid-July and continuing with additional fixes and various balance adjustments introduced in August 2026.
Pocketpair Says Palworld 1.0 Was Only a ‘Soft Prologue’
Palworld 1.0 launched in July 2026 after more than two years in early access. The full release added 72 Pals, bringing the game’s total creature roster to 287. It also introduced Sunreach and the World Tree, added the Awakening and Mutation mechanics, reworked the story and main missions, and overhauled systems ranging from base building to multiplayer. Looking further ahead, Pocketpair’s plans extend well beyond whatever arrives in the smaller-scale 1.1 patch. Buckley said the studio internally views Palworld 1.0 as a “soft prologue,” explaining that reaching the World Tree and resolving the events surrounding it doesn’t mark the end of the game’s larger story. The developer is now considering what comes next narratively, though it is not yet ready to commit to a firm release date or even window for the 1.1 update.
