Beloved Guerrilla Games Franchise May Be Making a Comeback

A new report claims that Guerrilla Games has a brand-new Killzone project in the pipeline. While Guerrilla Games will reportedly be working on this Killzone project, a studio outside of Sony’s ownership will allegedly be taking the lead.

Killzone Could be Getting a Remake

Published on September 6, MP1st has reported that a new Killzone game is in development. While the outlet has reportedly heard rumors that this new Killzone project could be a reboot of the sci-fi shooter franchise, the most consistent rumor it’s heard is that the project is some kind of remaster of remake. More specifically, MP1st believes it’ll be a “visual uplift of an older title,” and though the outlet hasn’t confirmed which entry will receive this uplift, it believes the series’ first 2004 entry would make the most sense.

Another interesting detail is that MP1st claims Guerrilla Games is partnering with a studio not owned by Sony to develop this rumored Killzone remake. The outlet draws attention to the March 2025 agreement between PlayStation and People Can Fly (Bulletstorm, Outriders), in which it was announced the latter studio would be developing a new game based on a pre-existing Sony IP. MP1st reportedly couldn’t confirm anything, but it believes that this IP is Killzone, and that People Can Fly is leading development on the project.

In terms of Guerrilla Games’ involvement in the alleged Killzone remake/remaster, MP1st claims that the studio was originally meant to shift focus onto the project after the release of Horizon Hunters Gathering, but given that development on the live-service spinoff has just been rebooted, the studio’s priorities will likely have changed. MP1st mentions it has also heard that Horizon 3 will be coming after this Killzone project, though that could easily change given how early in development the project is.

Throughout its report, MP1st reiterates that this Killzone project is still very early on in development, and outright states that the outlet isn’t “expecting an official announcement anytime soon.” The report also addresses the high volume of projects People Can Fly is currently working on. As well as this Killzone title (believed to be codenamed Project Delta), People Can Fly is also working on an Xbox project, a Krafton project, and a recently discovered project in partnership with 2K. People Can Fly is also credited with co-developing the upcoming Gears of War: E-Day.
