Castlevania: Belmont’s Curse will be playable two weeks before launch, thanks to a free demo arriving on every platform on October 1. Castlevania: Belmont’s Curse marks Konami’s return to the 2D action-exploration franchise, now starring Rose Belmont, the daughter of legendary vampire hunter Trevor Belmont.
Belmont’s Curse launches on October 15 and takes place in 1499 Paris, 23 years after the events of Castlevania 3: Dracula’s Curse. The main character, Rose Belmont, carries Dracula’s curse in her right arm, while Trevor returns to Paris after traveling there in response to a request for help. Gameplay remains rooted in the exploration-focused 2D action associated with Castlevania, but the new entry also adds faster whip traversal, multiple weapon categories, Relics, and an Arcana system that lets Rose seal defeated bosses into tarot cards and gain new spells and abilities from them. Konami is developing the game alongside Evil Empire, creators of The Rogue Prince of Persia, with Motion Twin of Dead Cells acclaim serving in an advisory role. Early previews have been widely positive, with many fans and critics thrilled to see Konami return to Castlevania in such a slick, stellar form.

Konami has now confirmed that a free Castlevania: Belmont’s Curse demo will launch on October 1, exactly two weeks before the full game arrives on October 15. The demo will be available on PS5, Xbox Series X/S, Nintendo Switch, and Steam, letting players experience the early portion of Rose’s adventure. Most importantly, save data can carry over directly to the full release, provided the demo and full game are played on the same platform and account. Konami notes that some features or content may be restricted in the demo and that the full game must be updated to its latest version before save data can be transferred.

That save transfer makes the demo feel closer to an early start than a traditional standalone trial. Players who already intend to buy Belmont’s Curse can begin progressing through Rose’s opening adventure and learning its combat and traversal without worrying about starting over at launch. However, the demo will still have some limitations, so it shouldn’t be treated as unrestricted early access, but carrying progress forward gives Castlevania fans a practical reason to jump in before launch rather than wait for the finished release.
Konami has also published the storage and performance targets for each demo version. The PS5 build requires at least 6GB, Belmont’s Curse on Xbox Series X/S needs 5GB, Steam requires 4GB, and the Nintendo Switch version comes in at 3GB. The PS5, Xbox, and Steam editions target 60 FPS, while on the Switch it runs at 30 FPS. Compared with the full game’s listed storage requirements of 8GB to 10GB depending on the platform, the demo appears to contain a meaningful portion of the opening adventure rather than a particularly small standalone slice.
The October 1 demo also arrives at a fitting time for a series built around vampires, monsters, Gothic castles, and supernatural horror. Belmont’s Curse is part of Castlevania‘s 40th anniversary year, and the game brings back familiar characters and bosses such as Dracula, Death, Medusa, Carmilla, and Isaac while introducing new enemies including Joan of Arc and The Fallen. With save progress carrying into the full game, players interested in Rose Belmont’s debut will effectively be able to begin their journey two weeks before Castlevania: Belmont’s Curse officially launches on October 15.
