MMOs have traditionally been built around combat, progression, and competition, but some newer games are exploring what the genre can look like without making combat its central focus. Loftia is one such project, placing its emphasis on cooperation, creativity, sustainability, and building a shared world with other players instead. The result is a vibrant life sim MMO that includes all the cozy features a fan of the genre could want.
Developed by Australian independent studio Qloud Games, Loftia takes place across a colorful world of floating islands where players can establish homes, grow crops, rescue animals, explore with friends, and contribute to projects that affect their communities. The game has also been shaped heavily by its player base, with feedback from Alpha and Beta testing helping influence everything from farming and character customization to social features.
Loftia Officially Enters Early Access on November 3
After four years of development and significant community involvement, Qloud Games has now confirmed that Loftia will enter Early Access on November 3 for PC and Mac, available both on Steam and the Epic Games Store. This is obviously a big victory for the developer and community, as the launch follows a $1.3 million Kickstarter campaign backed by 17,000 fans (with a closed Beta that hit 25,000 in April).

Furthermore, Loftia will launch with a base price of $29.99, though players can purchase it for $24.89 during the 17% launch discount. Of course, it’s worth noting that Early Access development on this community-focused MMO will continue.
Loftia‘s approach to multiplayer and MMO features is built around shared progress instead of competition, so it puts more emphasis on the “life” aspect of life sim too. For example, players can live in neighborhoods, collaborate to take on large-scale projects, and work with community-driven sustainability-focused systems like renewable energy, hydroponics, recycling, and ecology. In some ways, it’s the general idea of utopia in video game form. Cooperative activities also replace traditional MMO combat with time-based missions built around platforming, puzzles, exploration, and other challenges.
The development team plans to continue expanding Loftia throughout Early Access, adding new areas, activities, stories, social features, and community-driven content. Qloud Games says feedback will remain an important part of development as the world grows, following the role player responses have already played in shaping the game. Loftia was also voted Most Anticipated Game at the 2026 Cozy Game Awards in May, so it’s nice to see it hit the wider public soon.
