So it seems like the developers of Persona 4 Revival still had at least one guy’s number. Atlus has confirmed the voice actors for several members of the game’s ensemble cast on social media. Among them, it seems like they were able to get Johnny Yong Bosch to reprise his role as Tohru Adachi.

Bosch is a much-loved voice actor (and Power Ranger for the olds among us) and his performance as Adachi, Ryotaru Dojima’s criminal partner-in-crime-solving, is one of his best. Bosch also voiced more than one character in vanilla Persona 4, playing the role of the protagonist, Yu Narukami. Interestingly, he won’t be playing dual roles again in Revival, with the protagonist now voiced by Nazeeh Tarsha, known for his work in Genshin Impact and the Kaiju No. 8 and Cyberpunk: Edgerunners anime series.
Some fans are ecstatic at the reveal, happy that at least one member of the original cast has managed to return. The developers at Atlus talked about their strategy for the Revival voice cast, saying there were former cast members they weren’t able to get due to scheduling conflicts, or because they’re simply no longer in the business.
“So we’re like, ‘OK, I guess we have to kind of once again roll up our sleeves,’” said game director Kazuhisa Wada in an interview with Gamesradar. “‘Alright, let’s start over. Let’s get a whole new cast in and let’s do our best.’”
But, with this casting announcement, it seems like there was at least one guy from the original game they were able to get in touch with, leaving some fans confused as to how JYB (as he’s affectionately known) could get a callback but not one of the several other cast members of the original game who expressed interest in returning, including Yuri Lowenthal, who confessed to begging to reprise his role as Yosuke Hanamura.
So…JYB, who I love to death, is literally the only person you brought back to reprise their role despite multiple previous actors saying they would have gladly reprised if you fucking asked them?
