New Soulslike Game on Steam Has Serious PS2-Era Prince of Persia Vibes

Newly announced action-adventure game Mihira: The Eternal Arc claims to have both Soulslike and Metroidvania elements, but what has caught gamers’ attention is how closely it resembles the PS2-era Prince of Persia games. 2026 has not been the best year for Prince of Persia fans, as Ubisoft finally canceled the long-anticipated Sands of Time Remake. However, games like Mihira could help scratch that itch.

The story premise in Mihira: The Eternal Arc is enough to remind fans of games like Prince of Persia. Players take on the role of the titular Indian princess, who can manipulate time and travel between the past and present. Based on what has been revealed so far, time manipulation will also play a significant role in the gameplay, allowing Princess Mihira to uncover secret paths and gain an advantage in specific parts of the game.

New 2D Platformer Game on Steam Is Basically Cuphead Meets Hollow Knight

A brand-new Steam game looks like a mashup of Cuphead and Hollow Knight, with the developer acknowledging both games as inspirations.

Mihira: The Eternal Arc Looks Like a Sands of Time Spin-Off

Developed by an Indian team, Mihira: The Eternal Arc appears to draw inspiration from three defining aspects of classic Prince of Persia games: time manipulation, fluid combat, and 3D platforming. Mihira can view each location across two different timelines, with each concealing its own secrets, paths, and encounters. The combat could be compared to that of some indie Souls-lite games, featuring punishing counterstrikes and parry-focused attacks. As for the parkour elements, little has been revealed so far, aside from the fact that Mihira will have Metroidvania-style exploration.

Mihira: The Eternal Arc appears to draw inspiration from three defining aspects of classic Prince of Persia games: time manipulation, fluid combat, and 3D platforming.

According to developer Studio Yeoun, Princess Mihira and the characters she encounters are inspired by ancient Indian mythology and stories. Despite this distinct inspiration, the titular protagonist has also been compared to Princess Farah, one of the iconic characters in the Prince of Persia franchise and the deuteragonist of The Sands of Time. However, Mihira appears to be more capable in close-range combat than Farah, using dual daggers to take down enemies, a feature comparable to the combat style of the unnamed Persian prince in Ubisoft’s games. That said, it remains unclear whether daggers are the only weapons Princess Mihira can wield or whether her arsenal can be expanded.

Mihira Also Has Some Assassin’s Creed Spice

One of the important gameplay features in Mihira: The Eternal Arc is the protagonist’s ability to blend in with crowds to hide from enemies. The developers say this is critical for tracking down and hunting Timekeepers, which appear to be hard-to-kill mythical enemies. Short snippets of this crowd-blending feature shown in Mihira‘s gameplay trailer have caused some fans to think of classic Assassin’s Creed games, which placed greater emphasis on similar stealth mechanics.

At the time of writing, Mihira: The Eternal Arc has no release window. The game is planned for release on Steam, and considering the small team behind it, a console release in the near future seems unlikely. Those who want to support the developer can check out Studio Yeoun’s portfolio on itch.io and perhaps try some of its previous games. The studio has released five indie games so far, including Mira’s Odyssey and The Last Bell, which appear to be prototypes of what players now see in the upcoming Mihira game.
