Grand Theft Auto 6 is getting closer to its long-awaited release, with publisher Take-Two Interactive and developer Rockstar Games now less than two months away from bringing the next entry in the series to players. After years of anticipation and a relatively slow marketing campaign that has gradually revealed more of Vice City, its gameplay, and glimpses at Jason and Lucia, GTA 6 is entering the final stretch before launch.
Rockstar has already set a firm release date for GTA 6, ending some of the uncertainty that surrounded the game for years. Of course, many have been afraid of this release date for a long time now, as GTA 6 was delayed from its original 2025 release date to a May 2026 release date to its current one. The sequel is currently scheduled to launch on November 19, 2026, giving Rockstar plenty of time to show off more of the game, if it so chooses, ahead of its proper release.
GTA 6 Arriving at a Point of No Return
One particular date now stands out on the calendar. September 30 will mark exactly 50 days until GTA 6 releases, making it another small but notable milestone for one of the most anticipated games in Rockstar’s history. September 30 lands precisely 50 days before players can get their hands on the upcoming open-world crime game. This notably does not rule out a delay, but it does make it seem incredibly unlikely, as this is effectively a point of no return.

Some delays are understandable; a delay now would only upset fans who, at one point, may have never believed it would genuinely manifest. At the very least, GTA 6 developer Rockstar Games seems confident in the current date. Rockstar North co-studio lead Robert Nelson, in a recent interview with Famitsu, really only had one simple statement to make regarding GTA 6‘s release date:
“It will be released on time.”
The 50-day milestone also arrives during an increasingly active period for GTA 6. Rockstar has already provided an extended look at the game, giving fans a closer look at protagonists Jason and Lucia, Vice City as a cohesive whole, and some of the activities available throughout the world. The company has also begun expanding the game’s presence beyond traditional trailers, including new music tied to GTA 6 and its fictional version of Vice City. Plus, there is still plenty of time for Rockstar to reveal more about GTA 6. The company has not shown every part of the sequel, leaving additional details about GTA 6‘s open world, characters, missions, and other features that could emerge as launch approaches.
For now, September 30 provides another easy way to mark the upcoming game’s progress toward launch. GTA 6 will officially be 50 days away from release on that date, bringing Rockstar’s long-awaited return to Vice City another step closer to its November 19 arrival.
