A World of Warcraft: Forever player shares an add-on they made specifically to mute Asmongold and his guilds. World of Warcraft: Forever is a breath of fresh air for long-time players and even new ones who find WoW Classic or retail too difficult because they’re immediately left behind when they log in. Blizzard made World of Warcraft: Forever a hybrid of vanilla WoW, WoW Classic, and the modern version of the game,with horizontal progression and a permanent level cap of 60.
Alongside improvements to the base vanilla experience, World of Warcraft: Forever is adding gamepad support, options for players to see classic or retail character models, a filter for transmog, intensified weather effects, and special item drops while leveling. The game also aims to add new race and class combinations, with the most popular so far being Undead Paladin, which is also coming to the retail version of the game. Still, with such a refreshing setting, former WoW player-turned-Twitch streamer Asmongold came back to WoW: Forever, and his guilds followed. Now, a player has released an add-on to mute all these players for good.
World of Warcraft: Forever Players Can Mute Asmongold and Olympus With New Add-On
Asmongold and his Alliance-based Olympus guild, as well as all the Olympus sub-guilds, can now be permanently muted in World of Warcraft: Forever‘s chat with an add-on called OlympusMute. Add-on creator Solastro discussed their motives for creating this add-on in an interview, stating that Asmongold and his fans can be unbearable in public chat. Some Olympus members often use special characters so that their text is not automatically filtered or banned; they spam trade and general chat, are rude to other players, and share racist comments. Asmongold himself took to Twitter to share the “nicknames” he has for the Horde faction in WoW that he will be using in Forever. The streamer is known for problematic statements about modern politics, and he doesn’t seem to fear potential repercussions in World of Warcraft: Forever. Solastro’s OlympusMute add-on, available on CurseForge, not only automatically mutes Asmongold but also all the Olympus guilds, simply not showing their messages to users, with no actual repercussions to the streamer and his followers.

Fellow streamer and content creator Sodapoppin is also unhappy with Olympus, stating that he is now playing Horde just to avoid chat spam from Olympus members when playing Alliance characters. Solastro tested their add-on in an Olympus-filled area in the game, reporting that they saw no messages from the players in chat. Despite the add-on not directly affecting Asmongold or Olympus guilds, the streamer is calling for ways to circumvent the block, stating that it is “either a hate crime or racism” to have made the add-on and for people to use it. The add-on also auto-declines guild, group, and trade invitations from Olympus guilds, which can be very frequent. Due to hateful comments and rhetoric, and despite this being the beta for World of Warcraft: Forever rather than the final game, some players are calling for Asmongold to be banned.
Regardless of these issues, the beta is being very successful, and Blizzard is trying to make the game the best it can be even before launch. WoW: Forever adds a new serpent Druid form, for example, and the recent patch added intensive weather effects to make the world feel even more alive.
Blizzard is also monitoring existing issues and potential new ones, while moderating player names now that two names are allowed per character. The beta is only up to level 20 for now, but some players are already figuring out how to play Shaman tanks in World of Warcraft: Forever, what the best leveling routes are, or even which professions grant the most gold combined with the best upgrades for one’s character. There is a lot to discover, and this is just the start.
