Gamers will soon be able to transfer Pokemon from Pokemon FireRed and LeafGreen to Pokemon Home, allowing them to migrate to other games. The integration has been on the wishlist of Pokemon FireRed and LeafGreen players for quite some time now, and they won’t have to wait much longer.
Nostalgic gamers and those who had never played Pokemon FireRed and LeafGreen before got an opportunity when the games came to Nintendo Switch back in February. The games were reportedly a big hit, moving over four million copies, but they came with a caveat: the Pokemon acquired there have been stuck there. Pokemon FireRed and LeafGreen on Switch lack online compatibility, so players haven’t been able to send any of their captures to newer games, even as a gamer figured out how to send Pokemon from the original GBA version to the Switch.
Pokemon FireRed and LeafGreen Finally Gain Pokemon Home Compatibility
Now, the Pokemon Company has officially announced that Pokemon Home is receiving an update on October 6 that will add the awaited compatibility with Pokemon FireRed and LeafGreen. The update will begin on October 6 at 5:00 pm PT, and will conclude at 11 pm PT on the same day. The Pokemon Company has noted that Pokemon Home will be down until the update is complete, so anyone who wants to utilize the service with a different Pokemon game should keep that in mind. Once the servers are back online, players will need to update the app in order to transfer any Pokemon to it.

Gamers who have already completed their Pokemon FireRed and LeafGreen Pokedexes will be granted a special reward at the same time. Once connected to Pokemon Home, a completed Pokedex will see a level 50 Celebi added to the player’s mobile version of Pokemon Home. Players don’t need to deposit any Pokemon in order to get the Celebi, and once it’s added, they can transfer it to another game as they see fit.
So far, players seem to be pleased to know that they will finally be able to transfer their Pokemon. Pokemon Home compatibility was promised early on, but given that the game has been out for seven months, some were understandably frustrated at the wait. However, this new release does come with a caveat. Pokemon that are transferred to Pokemon Home from FireRed and LeafGreen can’t be sent back to the game they came from, so players should be absolutely sure they want to transfer before committing.
With this news now revealed, Pokemon fans are already shifting their attention to Pokemon Ruby, Sapphire, and Emerald. Leaks indicated that Pokemon Ruby, Sapphire, and Emerald would be coming to Switch consoles in October, and with Pokemon Home’s compatibility update now out of the bag, fans are waiting for more information on Pokemon RSE. However, nothing concrete has been announced yet. Chances are that more information will arrive soon, and hopefully, players won’t be stuck waiting half a year or more for Pokemon Home compatibility with the port of the Game Boy Advance entries to the long-running franchise.
