New Official Wilds Era Legend of Zelda Game Quietly Announced

The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom turned some of its strangest little distractions into memorable parts of exploring Hyrule, and that concept has been turned into a brand-new Legend of Zelda game. Not every memorable moment involved a massive dungeon, a difficult boss, or one of the game’s bigger story beats. Sometimes it was simply stumbling across something odd in the wilderness and realizing there was an entire side activity waiting to be discovered. Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom‘s open world was particularly good at turning those small encounters into reasons to keep wandering.

That no doubt contributed to the ultimate reception of The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, even among its counterparts. The franchise is one of those where there’s not a single bad game, like there’s no such thing as a bad Legend of Zelda game across the entire franchise (except Legend of Zelda 2), and that’s proven by reviews. Tears of the Kingdom sits at a 96 Must-Play Metascore on Metacritic, and one of its little moments has been turned into a full game.

Zelda: Ocarina of Time Remake’s New Goron City Footage Shows Nintendo May Be Making Hyrule Too Safe

A small change in Goron City raises a bigger question about whether Ocarina of Time Remake is sanding away too much of Hyrule’s old friction.

The Legend of Zelda: Addison Sign is Available Now

Now, one of the most recognizable pieces of that Tears of the Kingdom side activity can actually sit on a desk in the real world. One of ToTk‘s best activities was the Hudson Construction signs scattered across Hyrule, where Addison could be found desperately trying to keep the signs upright and relying on Link for aid. Now, Hanayama’s The Legend of Zelda: Addison Sign is a metal brain-teaser game based directly on Addison’s famously unstable construction signs, challenging players to build a structure that can stand on its own. The puzzle is currently available from retailers including Amazon, where it is listed for $27.99 at the time of writing.

The Zelda: Addison Sign game is more than a miniature collectible, too. The Legend of Zelda puzzle game comes with four metal support pieces that must be arranged to keep the sign standing without Addison holding it up. Unlike some traditional Hanayama puzzles that focus on taking pieces apart or putting them back together, this one is built around balance and structure. The finished result can also be left standing as a small Tears of the Kingdom display piece once the puzzle has been solved.

The difficulty is where this particular Zelda puzzle gets serious. Hanayama rates its metal puzzles on a six-level scale, with the Addison Sign receiving the highest Level 6 rating. The challenge comes from finding the right arrangement and getting the structure balanced well enough to remain standing, making this one considerably more involved than simply assembling a decorative Zelda figure. The puzzle was designed by Vesa Timonen, whose work is also associated with other Hanayama metal puzzles.

Tears of the Kingdom fans have a pretty unique tabletop-like game to pick up if they miss one of the game’s more ridiculous side activities. The Addison Sign takes something that only required a few Ultrahand creations in Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom and turns it into a standalone physical challenge (and one that can be displayed afterward).
