Nintendo Switch 2 is gearing up for one of its busiest days since its launch last year, with 12 new games releasing for the home console/handheld hybrid on Thursday, October 8. The Nintendo Switch 2 has become one of the fastest-selling new video game consoles of all time, and it’s showing no signs of slowing down. Even in the face of an unfortunate price increase, interest remains high in the Switch 2 and its lineup of games.
Nintendo itself has made sure that there is a healthy selection of Switch 2 games to choose from, with a new exclusive releasing almost every month in 2026. Just recently, Fire Emblem: Fortune’s Weave released for Switch 2 to strong reviews, and soon, Nintendo Switch Sports Resort will release for the platform, with The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time following soon after. In the more immediate future, Switch 2 gamers have an avalanche of new game releases to check out.

An abnormal number of new games are releasing for Nintendo Switch 2 on October 8. On that day, Switch 2 gamers will be treated to Clive Barker’s Hellraiser: Revival, The Crew Motorfest, Deck of Haunts, Earth Defense Force 5, Echo Weaver, Forever Ago, Hell is Us, Kingdom Hearts Collection [1 ~ 3], Mamon King, Once Upon a Katamari, Order of the Sinking Star, and Silver Pines. While some of these new Switch 2 games are ports of titles already available on other platforms, this is still an impressive lineup of games and should ensure that all fans have something new to play this week.

Out of all the new games coming to Switch 2 on October 8, some stand out a bit more than others. Kingdom Hearts Collection bundles all the major games in the franchise released so far in one convenient package. It will be the best, most-complete way to experience the Kingdom Hearts saga so far when it lands on Switch on October 8. Order of the Sinking Star is also of particular interest, as it is the next game from the award-winning Jonathan Blow, who previously made critically-acclaimed puzzle games Braid and The Witness.
Silver Pines is another interesting one. Silver Pines is a survival-horror Metroidvania game, and while there are plenty of Metroidvanias playable on Switch 2, few are horror-themed. Silver Pines has earned mostly positive reviews from critics and looks like it should be the perfect game to play this spooky season.
Looking ahead, there are many more exciting Switch 2 games set to release throughout October, though arguably the console’s biggest game of the year isn’t until November 5. It’s on that day that the Zelda: Ocarina of Time remake releases for Switch 2, updating the N64 classic to better meet modern standards. A week before that, on October 29, a collection of Zelda merch will hit store shelves, including a specially-themed, limited-edition Switch 2 console.
