The Witcher 3 Remastered‘s first week out in the wild wasn’t all some fans had hoped. Despite a bevy of free improvements and upgrades, there were also some hard-to-miss issues on both PC and console. But CD Projekt Red has been quick to try to address them, and a new patch delivers a fresh round of fixes, including the much-requested option to turn off bloom on consoles.
Patch 5.01 is roughly 5.5 GB on console and 8.5 GB on PC. It’s another granular update on the road to making The Witcher 3 Remastered all it deserves to be. The biggest change is that players on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S can now toggle the bloom setting on and off. This is a visual feature every player on PC had been disabling in order to try to make the game look less bright and washed out.
The update also lets console players tinker with Light Shafts and Depth of Field. Console players will now have new tools for customizing the visual quality of their own experience from the settings menu. Fortunately, the bug that kept resetting all of these custom settings on PS5 has also been fixed.
CDPR has addressed the audio bug on console as well. “The fix for voiceover audio becoming significantly quieter than other in-game audio after navigating through the pause menu tabs is now also implemented on consoles,” reads the patch note. No more Geralt mumbling from 10 feet away during NPC conversations and cutscenes.
“Truly appreciate this,” one player wrote. “The dialogue audio fix on PS5 is a major fix. I no longer have to crank the sound system to 30 during dialogue then back to 15 during battle.” CDPR is continuing to collect bug reports and player feedback and I suspect there will be a few significant Remastered patches still to go before things settled down in the lead-up to next year’s Songs of the Past DLC expansion.
