Xbox has spent the past few years building a lineup of major first-party games across several genres, from established franchises to entirely new RPGs, but many of them are not exclusive to its consoles. On a case-by-case basis, that’s something that Xbox is looking more into, and with Gears of War: E-Day recently releasing as an Xbox console exclusive, the next one is on track for 2027.
As part of Xbox’s “reset,” it seems that the company is moving away from more experimental Xbox Game Pass titles and focusing more on its established IP, although it remains unknown if games like The Elder Scrolls 6 and Fallout 5 will be Xbox console exclusive. That’s a question that won’t be answered for a few years. With Xbox’s biggest fall release out in the wild now, though, the next console exclusive will now be in the spotlight.

With Gears of War: E-Day now released, Clockwork Revolution is the next currently scheduled Xbox console exclusive on the horizon. Developed by inXile Entertainment and published by Xbox Game Studios, the first-person steampunk RPG is officially scheduled to launch in 2027. It is planned for Xbox Series X|S and PC, with availability through Game Pass on day one. While the game was announced years ago, its place in the release schedule makes it one of the next major Xbox console exclusives players can anticipate.

Clockwork Revolution takes place in Avalon, a Victorian-inspired metropolis filled with steam-powered machinery, clockwork prosthetics, and stark differences between the wealthy and working classes. Players create their own character, Morgan Vanette, and discover that the city’s history has been manipulated by the powerful Lady Ironwood. Using a device called the Chronometer, Morgan can travel into the past and change key events, then return to see how those decisions reshape the present. The game promises a reactive RPG experience where choices can affect characters, relationships, and even the city itself.
InXile Entertainment, known for RPGs like as Wasteland, is positioning Clockwork Revolution as a deep role-playing adventure built around consequences, yet comes complete with strong time manipulation and comebat mechanics. Its latest appearance at the Xbox Games Showcase earlier this year has also highlighted the cast of characters and the different sides of Avalon, suggesting that the story will extend beyond a straightforward fight against its ruling class.
For now, Clockwork Revolution is scheduled for 2027, though Xbox has not announced a specific release date. Its arrival would make it the next currently scheduled Xbox console exclusive following Gears of War: E-Day, assuming no other eligible game receives an earlier date or moves ahead in the schedule.
