Following the recent layoffs at EA, including the closure of BioWare, reports indicate that a special Battlefield 6 collaboration set for N7 Day has been quietly scrapped. Season 5, which takes Battlefield 6 to Las Vegas, has again been a big event for players as they battle it out on the Strip, take to the mysterious sands of Area 51, while also taking part in a much faster-paced Rapid Royale game mode.
It’s been a tough week for fans of EA and its catalog of games as the publisher not only announced mass layoffs, but has closed the doors for good on BioWare, a studio with plenty of beloved IPs including Dragon Age and Mass Effect. While the studio had struggled over the previous decade with recapturing its glory days, the news that the studio was shutting down for good, even with a new Mass Effect very early in development, left many surprised, upset, and disappointed. However, it appears that the news has also had an impact on EA’s popular Battlefield 6 if new reports are true.
Battlefield 6 Quietly Cancels Upcoming Mass Effect Collab
It appears that BioWare had big plans for the annual N7 Day event, a celebration of the Mass Effect franchise on November 7. Unfortunately, plans have most certainly been scrapped with the studio closure, but fans already got an unexpected taste with the leaked Mass Effect Universe trailer. New reports indicate that there was also a Mass Effect collaboration coming to Battlefield 6, likely to be announced or was set to potentially begin on November 7. As it stands, the event has seemingly been canceled.
The report follows on the heels of a datamine that seemingly revealed a selection of Mass Effect cosmetics such as N7 stickers, a weapon skin, spray paint, and even a weapon charm of the Normandy ship. Naturally, the fanbase assumed the cosmetics would appear in some way on the approaching N7 Day celebration, but it seems those items are no longer present in the game’s files, with the assumption that someone involved in the game had removed them entirely in response to the closure of BioWare and the cancelation of Mass Effect Universe.
Had the crossover event gone through, it would have continued a strong run of form, with Battlefield 6 currently crossing over with Dead Space. The limited-time event takes advantage of the new Area 51 map where enemy forces have seemingly discovered a new Marker, an alien monolith from the Dead Space series that causes hallucinations and is strongly linked to the outbreak of Necromorphs. Battlefield 6 features a new 16-player PvE experience called Marker Incursion where squads will need to destroy Marker Shrines while battling waves of enemy forces. In addition, there are new cosmetics to unlock, like a “RIG-Certified” SMG, and a cosmetic skin based off of Isaac Clarke’s RIG suit.
Even without a new collaboration event on the horizon, Battlefield 6 has new features on the horizon, including some highly requested content. Later in Season 5, during the launch of Frozen Aces on December 8, Battlefield 6 is planning to finally bring Platoons and a dedicated Server Browser to the game, two highly requested features that fans have been asking for since the launch of the game in 2025.
