One of the biggest appeals of RuneScape: Dragonwilds is its familiar skill system, and Jagex has ambitious plans to expand it with even more ways for players to develop their characters. Unlike the traditional RuneScape experience, Dragonwilds puts a much greater emphasis on survival, crafting, base building, and exploration, while retaining many of the skills and progression systems that helped make the franchise popular in the first place. With the game now fully released, Jagex has made it clear that there’s still plenty more content on the way.
One of the biggest selling points of RuneScape: Dragonwilds is how it reimagines familiar features from the original MMORPG. Skills like Mining, Woodcutting, and Magic remain important, but their implementation has been adapted to fit the open-world survival-crafting game genre. Jagex’s latest RuneScape: Dragonwilds roadmap suggests that this process isn’t slowing down anytime soon, with several familiar additions already lined up for the next year.
RuneScape: Dragonwilds’ 3 New Skills
Jagex has officially confirmed that RuneScape: Dragonwilds is getting 3 more skills: Prayer, Hunter, and Slayer. The additions were highlighted as part of the game’s 2026–2027 roadmap, which outlines a series of major updates stretching into next year. Prayer is scheduled to arrive first in December 2026 as part of the free RuneScape: Dragonwilds Luminance update, while Hunter is planned for 2027 alongside the first chapter of the Blood Crystal Saga. Slayer is also confirmed as one of the upcoming skills, although Jagex has not yet provided a specific release date or detailed breakdown of how it will work in Dragonwilds.
Find the odd one out before the timer hits zero.
RuneScape‘s Prayer will be a combat and support skill with some familiar mechanics, although Jagex is making changes to accommodate Dragonwilds. Players will be able to bury bones, scatter ashes, and build altars at their bases, eventually unlocking prayers that provide useful passive effects. These can include improved combat capabilities, health restoration, better resource gathering efficiency, and protection against certain damage types. Prayer points can be restored at altars, while some enemies will even be capable of draining them.

RuneScape‘s Hunter skill, meanwhile, will arrive in 2027 with Song of Rebellion, the opening chapter of the Blood Crystal Saga. The skill will allow RuneScape: Dragonwilds players to sneak up on creatures, set traps, and collect different animals throughout the world. Jagex has already confirmed that Implings, new Kebbit variants, grizzly bears, and birds will appear in the upcoming region surrounding the elven city of Ailddinas. Slayer is another familiar RuneScape skill on the roadmap, but Jagex hasn’t explained how Slayer assignments or progression will function in Dragonwilds, so it’s unclear how closely the new version will resemble its MMORPG counterpart.
Beyond the 3 new skills, Jagex has an ambitious 2027 planned for the open-world survival-crafting game. The Blood Crystal Saga will begin in full (Luminance is an appetizer), taking players into enemy territory controlled by the Nos Clan, while new equipment, quests, and areas will expand the adventure. Jagex intends to maintain a combination of monthly content drops and larger quarterly updates, so RuneScape: Dragonwilds should look considerably different by the end of next year.
