Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced Officially Releases Its Final Major Content Update

Ubisoft releases the final major content update for Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced, finally adding New Game Plus alongside a bunch of new content, features, and bug fixes. It’s been a highly successful run for Ubisoft and the return of its beloved 2013 title. Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced not only reached impressive sales and player milestones, but it received plenty of post-launch support as well.

For a game that is essentially a remake, Ubisoft wasn’t content to just release the game again and leave it as is. The studio added more content that wasn’t in the original game, including in-game quests to recruit new crew mates for the Jackdaw, but it also continued to react to feedback and add in highly requested features through post-launch updates. The quality of life updates for Black Flag Resynced ranged from simple cosmetic tweaks and new missions, to adjustments to the game’s dynamic weather system, which, for a time, was leaning too heavily on rain and storms. However, this latest update may be the most impactful the game has seen yet.

Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced Required a Complete Rebuild

Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced director reveals why Ubisoft had to completely rebuild things from the ground up resulting in a brand new game.

For many players, the biggest piece of this update is that Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced finally has New Game Plus. Fans have been clamoring for the feature ever since the game launched back in July, and although it has taken longer than many would have liked, players can now restart their journey after the end credits roll. All of Edward’s tools, upgrades, unlocked weapons, and trinkets will carry over, as well as all money, trade goods, and materials in the player’s inventory. New Game+ does have its own currency called Escudos and any quest-related items will reset. Jackdaw upgrades, pets, and officer abilities also carry over, though the officers themselves will need to be recruited again. Custom outfits, Hideout progression, codex items, and purchased items are also available when NG+ is started. It’s worth noting that each New Game+ playthrough makes the game more difficult, with elite soldiers and max rank ships appearing more often.

However, New Game+ is just the tip of the iceberg for this final content update. The patch also adds a new difficulty mode called Nightmare, which not only turns up enemy reactions and the damage they deal, it depletes Edward’s oxygen meter faster underwater, increases all ship damage, removes the white glint on enemy attacks, and makes stealth much harder. The one-shot kill safety is also disabled, so players will want to keep track of how many bullets they have left and watch out for explosive barrels as well.

Additionally, Ubisoft has added more Community Chests and hidden them around the Carribean with special, fan-requested rewards. Black Flag Resynced players have already stumbled into hidden chests, so it stands to reason that these new rewards will be found sooner than later. The update also adds new Takedown animations, including some from the original version of the game, additional cosmetic items to unlock through New Game+ like trinkets, outfits, ship sails, and pet skins, while also addressing a number of remaining bugs and other issues.

Ubisoft is officially calling this the final major content update for Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced, which seems to indicate that Ubisoft is moving on from the game. The confirmation may be surprising to some, as there have been plenty of rumors regarding a potential expansion or possible expanded DLC that could have served as a link between Black Flag and Assassin’s Creed 3‘s story. Datamined information seemingly discovered details of potentially cut content, highlighting a post-pirate Edward enjoying life back in England, interacting with other major characters like Miko and Adewale.

Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced Title Update 1.0.8

New Game +

Set Sail Again (& Again & Again & Again & Again)

Explore the Caribbean again, again, and again. New Game+ is finally here, leap back into Edward Kenway’s legendary journey, explore the open seas, and rebuild your crew while keeping what you’ve earned!

Nightmare Mode

No second chances. No mercy. Nightmare Mode transforms Black Flag Resynced into a brutal fight for survival where every duel can be your last. Enemies react faster, hit harder, and punish hesitation. The Caribbean is as beautiful as ever, but beneath the waves and beyond the horizon, death awaits the unprepared.

Ground Combat

  • Enemies do 1.8x damage
  • The timing for parrying is reduced
  • No more white glint on enemy attacks
  • Ranged enemies shoot more often
  • The one-shot kill safety is disabled.

    • This is the most impactful since the game does not prevent an instant death, even if the player has a lot of health left. Players should be extremely mindful of bullets and explosives.

Stealth

  • Detection time greatly reduced
  • Investigation time extended
  • Enemies can hear the player when they’re moving faster than a walk
  • Edward needs to be at least 6m above an enemy to stay hidden in a high spot, instead of just 4m

Naval

  • All ship damages are increased

Activities

  • Underwater sharks deal more damage
  • Urchins and jellyfish damage is doubled
  • Oxygen meter depletes faster
  • All harpooning wildlife deals more damage

We’ve hidden new community chests for you to find, some with special community requested rewards.

Since you’re all excellent detectives, we’ve made these ones more challenging and won’t be giving you any easy hints. Good luck Pirates!

New Takedowns

We have brought back takedown animations from the original game, including hidden blade, unarmed, single sword and gunblade takedowns.

New Cosmetic Items

As we mentioned above, there are a bunch of new cosmetic items in this update. Ranging from outfits to new Pet skins and trinkets, collect them all by playing through New Game+.
