Blizzard has released an official statement about the newly released World of Warcraft: Forever, which has beaten both World of Warcraft and WoW Classic. Blizzard revealed the new “Classic Plus” experience during BlizzCon earlier this year, and by taking a look at the overall sentiment online and during the reveal, it was clear that this new Warcraft MMO was going to be huge. Now that it has finally launched, World of Warcraft: Forever has proven to be even more successful than anticipated, as officially confirmed by Blizzard.
To celebrate the game’s launch, Blizzard has also given players a chance to get a powerful item. Until November 12, World of Warcraft: Forever players can get the Pouch of Violet Dust for free, and it not only turns a campfire’s flames purple for increased flair, but it also extends the duration of all campfire buffs from one to two hours. This is a great addition for those who intend to explore the social focus of the new MMO even just a little bit, and it can help both solo players and groups optimize their game time.
Blizzard Releases New Official Statement on World of Warcraft: Forever’s Player Numbers
Though Blizzard no longer reveals player numbers, it released an official statement saying that World of Warcraft: Forever is the biggest launch in the history of the franchise by concurrent players and number of returning players. This is huge, as the previous records were held by World of Warcraft‘s Cataclysm expansion and WoW Classic, with the former selling well over three million copies within the first 24 hours of release and having a total of over 12 million active subscribers between Wrath of the Lich King and Cataclysm. WoW Classic had over 1.1 million viewers on Twitch, and so many players wanted to log in that there were massive disruptions to service. WoW‘s infamous Shadowlands expansion was also incredibly fast-selling, having sold almost four million copies on day one. The new Skyborne elves and the Skyborne’s Druid forms in World of Warcraft: Forever are part of the Skyborne Pack, which is paid, and it was required to access the beta. Even then, there were almost nine million characters created, long queues, and server issues. By comparison, the game’s launch on November 4 was incredibly smooth, as Blizzard adjusted for incredible player numbers.
Find the odd one out before the timer hits zero.
The best races and classes in World of Warcraft: Forever were confirmed on launch, though things may change when more players get to the endgame and discover new items or even builds. In fact, one of the appeals of the new game that most likely contributed to its incredible success is that it not only adds one thousand new quests, new zones, a new race, and new race/class combinations, but it also adds new talents and never-before-seen items that can fundamentally alter builds. A new sword lets Mages go melee, for example, and Blizzard stated that there are powerful rare items hidden as loot from every single Raid boss.

On top of all that, a recent 4chan post leaked World of Warcraft: Forever‘s first expansion and new playable races. While the leak is to be taken with a pinch of salt, there could be some credence to it based on Blizzard’s revival of Warcraft 3 Reforged and a focus on the Undead in WoW: Forever.
For now, fans can rest assured that Blizzard is most likely adding a lot of new content to the game in the coming months, given its smashing success. And, finally, there is also a chance that World of Warcraft will come to Xbox and other consoles sooner rather than later, considering comments made by the devs.
