Beyond Day 1 Update Patch Notes Revealed

Metroid Prime 4: Beyond reveals new details for its day one update, which adds new features while also addressing some bugs and issues. The long wait for the next entry in the series is nearly at an end as Metroid Prime 4: Beyond launches on December 4, 2025, nearly eight years after it was first revealed.

The Metroid Prime series has a special place in many players’ hearts, even with the lengthy wait for a new game. After revealing Metroid Prime 4: Beyond through a simple splash image teaser back in 2017, the game has certainly experienced a multitude of development issues, even being scrapped and transferred over to Retro Studios to begin anew. Even with the game’s imminent release, Nintendo has a few more tweaks to apply through a day one update.

How Metroid Prime 4 Reviews Compare to the Other Games in the Series

Critics begin posting reviews for Metroid Prime 4 as the eight-year wait for the game since its initial announcement is finally coming to an end.

When Metroid Prime 4: Beyond launches, players connected online will have an update that needs to be applied. The update itself is fairly small compared to other typical Day One updates, but it does make some tweaks and quality of life improvements, including adjustments to enemies when playing in Hard Mode, adding vibration to the controller during cutscenes, as well as some unspecific confirmations that Retro Studios has made additional adjustments behind the scenes.

However, the update also adds in some new features to improve the experience as well. In addition to adding controller vibrations during cutscenes, this update also enables amiibo to be used from the matching page on the pause menu. Considering Metroid Prime 4: Beyond has specific amiibo to go along with the game, including the villainous Sylux, there’s no doubt that some players would be disappointed if this feature had not been activated.

It’s also worth noting that Metroid Prime 4: Beyond is a hybrid game, launching on both the Switch and Switch 2 consoles. For players who may opt to pick up a Switch 2 down the road, Nintendo has added a handy upgrade path icon in the menu after the title screen. Selecting it from a NIntendo Switch 2 console with the Switch version of the game will take players to the specific area of the eShop where they can upgrade.

While the official launch date is December 4, 2025, some lucky fans managed to get their hands on Metroid Prime 4: Beyond a bit earlier than Nintendo would have liked. The broken street date by some stores isn’t uncommon for Nintendo. In fact, two of Nintendo’s biggest first party games, Donkey Kong Bananza and Pokemon Legends Z-A managed to slip out early in some areas, worrying those who had been waiting for potential spoilers or leaks. Either way, the wait is nearly over as Samus Aran takes on her latest adventure of exploring the mysterious planet of Viewros.

Metroid Prime 4: Beyond Update 1.1.0 Patch Notes

  • You can now use amiibo on the “amiibo” page in the pause menu.
  • Controller now vibrates during cinematics.
  • [Switch 2]: When you start up Metroid Prime 4 Beyond on Nintendo Switch 2, a “Switch 2 Edition” option will now appear in the menu after the title screen. Selecting this option will take you to the Upgrade Path page on the Nintendo eShop.
  • The rating information for the rating system “ClassInd (Brazil)” has been updated from “12” to “14”.
  • The condition for unlocking some movies in the “Gallery” has been changed from “achieving 100% item recovery rate” to “clearing the game.”
  • In “Hard Mode,” the difficulty of some enemies has been adjusted.
  • Additionally, we have made some adjustments and fixes to improve your gameplay experience.
