Survival Crafting Players Will Relish Bellwright’s New “Maiden Voyage” Update

This content was produced in collaboration with Valnet Inc. and the sponsor Donkey Crew and Snail Games USA.

It’s no secret that there has been a surge in popularity for games that heavily encompass survival and crafting mechanics, but not all of them quite capture the immersion of a strong story. In the case of Bellwright, you get the best of both worlds, as players build a rebellion against oppression from the ground up, while trying to uncover the mystery of why they were framed for the murder of Kavenia’s Prince.

Bellwright might be familiar to some survival fans already, since its launch last year in early access, but it is an exciting time for both new and experienced players alike. With the upcoming arrival of the game’s first major map expansion, there’s no better time than right now to try the title out for yourself.

Interview: Bellwright Developers Talk Realism, Immersion, and Future Plans

Game Rant sits down with developers of survival and town management game Bellwright to discuss its development and upcoming content.

Bellwright Is A Medieval Lover’s Dream

What really sets Bellwright apart from other games in the genre, is that players will be focused not only on their own progression, but the development of the people they govern. As you rescue more villages from the kingdom’s iron-fisted rule, you’ll learn more combat and survival skills, as will the villagers. Workers will become master craftsmen, armies will become well-oiled machines, and players themselves will become experts in any of the game’s wide variety of medieval weapons.

With the broad spectrum of game mechanics, Bellwright rarely has any pauses in the action. As you grow from a small settlement into a great rebellion, players will be tasked with managing armies, navigating settlement politics, and honing their own skills on their way to seeking out the truth.

“Maiden Voyage” Update Brings New Halmare Isles Map & QoL Features

With the game still in early access, existing and new players alike are being treated to a major content update, which will bring whole new areas to explore and new features to include in their gameplay experience. It’s not just cosmetic, either, it’s a whole new story, new loot, and special rewards.

Once players have completed the Karvenia area, they can build a dock and sail to the Halmare Isles for a new experience. The new content will cast players into a whole new explorable biome simply brimming with everything from additional quests and rewards, to new buildings and animals to discover.

In addition to the new map and story, some additional gameplay features are being added. Players can expect a new faction system with multiple progression lines, and new faction armor and clothing. Not only that, but the weapon offerings are being expanded, with a crossbow and spear now available to add to your arsenal, which will cater to whole new builds and play styles.

Survival and medieval fans alike are sure to sink countless hours into Bellwright‘s content, and with the game in early access, it’s only going to get better. The game is now available on Steam, and will be 34% off from now through January 5, 2026, for Steam’s Winter Sale, so declare your allegiance, choose your faction, and protect the realm!
