Earlier this year, a leak known as the Teraleak 2 released several key details on Pokemon Gen 10—and new leaks have showcased a few features coming to the game. One of the latest is a first look at the beta map for Pokemon Gen 10, which is leaked to be named Pokemon Wind(s)/Pokemon Wave(s). It is currently unknown if the titles are pluralized or not.
As a note, because this is a beta depiction of the region, it could change considerably before release. However, given Pokemon Gen 10 is inspired by Southeast Asia/Indonesia, the bones of the map are likely to be very similar to the official release.
Pokemon Gen 10 is Inspired by Southeast Asia/Indonesia
As posted by CentroLeaks, the map is inspired to the point that it is very similar. The leaker’s followers have taken note that many of the islands have not been changed much from their real-world inspos, though this is likely to change. Essentially, the islands of Indonesia and the Malay Peninsula have been taken and rearranged, but otherwise look very familiar. Some notable landmarks include, but are not limited to,
- Sumatra
- Java
- New Guinea
- Kalimantan
- Borneo
- Sulawesi
- Southern Thailand
- Part of Australia
- Many others
Other notable points of the map include the Volcano at the heart of the region, the inclusion of desert regions and a snow mountain (all staples), and perhaps the inclusion of Sulawesi. For those unfamiliar, Sulawesi is famous for its extreme endemism, as species have evolved in isolation and exist nowhere else on Earth. “Isolated Evolutions” has not leaked for Pokemon Gen 10, but if it features its own regional evolutions, that’s possibly the best inspiration. And to the meme’s credit, there is a lot of water in this region, not unlike Hoenn or Alola. That’s to be expected, however.
The inclusion of Borneo, as well as the rampant water, feels like supporting evidence for my theory that the Pokemon Gen 10 water starter is based on a proboscis monkey. Prior leaks, as well as other pieces of evidence, pointed in that direction, but the general map does make it clear how much the islands and the open waters will play in Pokemon Wind(s)/Pokemon Wave(s).
For now, fans will just have to wait and see what changes from this beta version. Pokemon Gen 10 is expected to be revealed on Pokemon Day in February, and it’ll likely launch sometime in Fall 2026. Seeing this glimpse of the region ahead of then is no doubt nice, but the biggest question on everyone’s mind, which has not been leaked, is what the new Pokemon actually look like. Well, fans are months, if not a year+, away from that, but it’ll be interesting to see how the new region continues to shape up.
