Final Fantasy 14 unveiled some cosmetics to end 2025 with, including two items that will be available once the annual Heavensturn event begins on New Year’s Eve. Alongside some new items themed around the upcoming Year of the Horse festivities, Final Fantasy 14 also launched a new, techno-inspired cosmetic set that can only be purchased with real money via the game’s Online Store.
The arrival of these new items comes amid a rough patch for Final Fantasy 14. Before and during the launch of Final Fantasy 14‘s 7.4 content update, the critically-acclaimed MMORPG experienced server issues in its North American data centers. These issues caused several players to disconnect from the game at random intervals, though some players managed to stay online. Although a distributed denial-of-service (DDoS) attack was initially reported by Square Enix and Final Fantasy 14 players, further investigations claimed that a faulty node managed by Japanese telecommunications company NTT was the likely cause of the problem. Some Final Fantasy 14 players worked around the problem by using a VPN or similar software to ensure their connection to the game’s North American servers went around the faulty NTT node as Square Enix continued to monitor the situation.

Final Fantasy 14 Reveals The Last Cosmetics Players Can Get In 2025
After Final Fantasy 14 deployed a hotfix patch on Christmas Day to address some lingering issues following Patch 7.4, Square Enix revealed a new set of cosmetic items that players can add to their glamour collections. The Eastern Technoattire can now be purchased on the FF14 Online Store for $18, which includes five cosmetic pieces of gear that can be equipped by any player character. Each piece has two dye channels, and the entire Eastern Technoattire set can be gifted to a friend. Like other items in the Final Fantasy 14 Online Store, players can see how these cosmetics will look on their character before purchasing them by using the Dreamfitting feature in an inn room.
Along with the Eastern Technoattire set, Final Fantasy 14 revealed the return of the annual Heavensturn event. As the game’s equivalent of the real-world Lunar New Year, Heavensturn uses a specific animal as the main motif of the festivities. This time around, the Year of the Horse will be observed across FF14. Heavensturn begins on Wednesday, December 31 at 10:00 AM Eastern, just one minute after Final Fantasy 14‘s ongoing Starlight Celebration concludes. The holiday concludes two weeks later, on January 15, at 9:59 AM Eastern.
While Heavensturn is active, Final Fantasy 14 players at level 15 and higher can visit the Aftcastle in Limsa Lominsa’s Upper Decks and begin the seasonal quest “Seize the Neigh” by speaking to the Uma Bugyo. After completing the horse-themed Heavensturn events, FF14 players will be rewarded with the Uma-no-Unicolt minion and a Gilded Screen indoor furnishing item for their virtual homes. Past Heavensturn items, including The Great White Tsuchinoko minion, are also on sale via the Online Store for players to purchase.
Final Fantasy 14 Has More Fashion Planned In The New Year
Although Final Fantasy 14‘s 7.4 update did not give players a free Fantasia potion like previous Dawntrail patches did, the popular item is currently discounted on the game’s Online Store until January 8. Fantasia potions allow Final Fantasy 14 players to drastically alter their character’s appearance, including their race, gender, and other features, and includes a one-hour window to make any other changes without needing to consume another potion. Though Fantasia potions normally cost $10, the sale has them marked down to $7 each, with bigger discounts on bulk purchases.
Final Fantasy 14 will see smaller updates in the Patch 7.4 series throughout early 2026. The Savage version of the Arcadion Heavyweight raids will be available starting January 6. Some weeks later, Patch 7.41 will add new Cosmic Exploration and Phantom Weapon quests, both of which will offer more rewards for players to collect. Later in early 2026, Patch 7.45 will bring a new Variant and Criterion Dungeon, dubbed The Merchant’s Tale, along with the next chapter of Hildibrand’s adventures through Dawntrail. Between these updates and the upcoming North American Fan Fest in April, Final Fantasy 14 players have some good things to look forward to in the year ahead.
