These Were The Best Selling Nintendo Switch eShop Games of 2025

Nintendo has officially revealed the best-selling games on both the Switch and Switch 2 eShop in Japan, with a pair of 2025’s most popular releases leading the pack. 2025 has been a banner year for Nintendo as the developer has not only welcomed the launch of multiple highly-anticipated games, but also its newest home console. Nintendo officially debuted the Switch 2 in June to monumental success, already filling the successor to the groundbreaking Nintendo Switch with beloved games like Mario Kart World, Donkey Kong Bananza, and plenty more.

Nintendo has seen a plethora of reasons to celebrate throughout 2025, with its new console hitting some impressive marks. The Switch 2 has boasted solid numbers both in Japan and around the world since its June debut, with the Switch 2 passing 6 million units sold worldwide in less than two months. Mario Kart World also saw enormous success as the Switch 2’s flagship launch title, selling more than 1 million physical copies in Japan within a month of its debut. Now, Mario Kart World and the newest Pokemon game sit among Nintendo’s biggest hitters in 2025.

Nintendo’s Sales Charts Mix New Releases with Old Favorites

The suite of games sitting in the Switch and Switch 2’s top-selling spots includes plenty of expected names. Pokemon Legends: Z-A nearly secured top marks with both its Switch and Switch 2 releases, only falling to the mega-popular Mario Kart World on the newer console. The Inazuma Eleven franchise has typically been popular in its home region, finishing in 8th and 5th on the Switch and Switch 2, respectively. Nintendo’s longtime staples also continue to hang around the Top 20 charts, with games like the previously-mentioned Mario Kart 8 Deluxe and Super Smash Bros. Ultimate still putting up numbers.

Nintendo looks to close out a stellar 2025 for the gaming juggernaut with lots still to come in early 2026. Animal Crossing: New Horizons will make its long-awaited jump to the Switch 2 in January, coupled with a free update for the life simulation game. Nintendo is also set to debut two highly-anticipated first-party games within the opening months of the year, launching Mario Tennis Fever in February and Pokemon Pokopia in March. Plenty of big-name ports are scheduled to arrive on the Switch 2 as well, including Final Fantasy 7 Remake on January 22 and Yakuza Kiwami 3 on February 12, among others. Fans of Nintendo and the Switch 2 should have plenty to be excited about as the studio rings in the new year.
