Despite just being announced, LEGO‘s new Pokemon sets are already being listed on eBay for far higher than their retail prices. LEGO is releasing three Pokemon-themed sets for purchase, including Pikachu, Eevee, and a single set containing Venusaur, Charizard, and Blastoise. However, there are also two sets not available for traditional purchase: the Mini Pokemon Center reward, only available for LEGO Insiders, and the LEGO Kanto Region Badge Collection is only available as a free gift with purchase when ordering one of these sets from the Pokemon Center website, the latter of which is the primary target of these eBay scalpers.
Given how popular both the LEGO and Pokemon franchises are, it’s not surprising that these new sets would fall prey to scalpers. The Pokemon franchise has long been a target for scalped products, with the Pokemon TCG being the infamous example of scapling the series has seen in recent years. Now, LEGO fans hoping to get their hands on these new LEGO Pokemon sets will have to go through a similar challenge with the launch of the products just over a month away.
40 New 2026 LEGO Sets Detailed in Massive Leak
A massive new leak includes names, set numbers, and other details about 40 LEGO sets planned to release over the course of 2026.
Scaplers Have Their Sights Set on LEGO Pokemon Sets
A quick eBay search for LEGO Pokemon sets yields results for listings at prices far above the MSRP for the sets on the Pokemon Center and LEGO websites. One listing in the US has the LEGO Pikachu set going for $350, while another has the Venusaur, Charizard, and Blastoise going for $1,000. The most popular eBay listing for the LEGO Pokemon sets is the Pokemon Center exclusive Kanto Gym Badge Collection, which is being sold anywhere from $100-250.
All LEGO Pokemon Sets and Their MSRPs
- LEGO Pikachu – $199.99
- LEGO Eevee – $59.99
- LEGO Venusaur, Charizard, and Blastoise – $649.99
- LEGO Kanto Gym Badge Collection – Free Gift with Purchase from the Pokemon Center
- LEGO Mini Pokemon Center – LEGO Insider reward (2500 Points)
Infamously, collecting LEGO sets is an expensive hobby to begin with, and the LEGO Pokemon’s prices have already been the subject of criticism. However, that hasn’t stopped scalpers from successfully selling pre-orders of the products for even higher prices. In particular, there is a clear demand for the Kanto Gym Badge Collection set, as it is a limited offering and is likely going to be hard to find in the future.
These eBay listings are only offering a pre-ordered product for payment, and any purchase made won’t be available until the LEGO Pokemon sets release later in February.
Fans looking to pre-order any of these Pokemon sets may find mixed results. The LEGO Pikachu and Eevee sets are both still available on the Pokemon Center and official LEGO websites, but the Venusaur, Charizard, and Blastoise sets are sold out. This unavailability from official retailers could help explain the willingness of some fans to shell out the big bucks for eBay resellers, especially when a limited item like the Kanto Gym Badge Collection is showing as unavailable.
As disappointing as it is to see an exciting new Pokemon product like this already being scalped online, the franchise is still set up for an exciting year as Pokemon celebrates its 30th anniversary. Fans still have new video game releases for titles like Pokemon Pokopia, Pokemon Champions, and the leaked Pokemon Gen 10 games to look forward to later this year. Collectors and TCG players can also look forward to upcoming releases for Ascended Heroes and Perfect Order, releasing on January 30 and March 27, respectively. In the meantime, LEGO fans can still pre-order the LEGO Pikachu and LEGO Eevee sets that are still in stock before the series releases on February 27, 2026.
