Grounded 2 Reveals Roadmap for 2026 Updates

Obsidian Entertainment releases the next big update for its Early Access title, Grounded 2, called the Toxic Tangle, adding a major amount of new content, while also fully revealing a content roadmap for 2026. Grounded 2 brings back the “Honey I Shrunk The Kids” vibe of the original game, letting players explore Brookhollow Park to survive alone or with friends. While many core gameplay components return, Grounded 2 brings a new storyline, enemies, and features to take advantage of as well.

Following in the Early Access footsteps of its predecessor, Grounded 2 arrived in the Summer of 2025 and has periodically built out the core mechanics and gameplay through major new updates. While it appears that Grounded 2 still has a lengthy Early Access period ahead of it, Obsidian has continued to build on the game’s solid foundation of survival and base building, by adding new enemies, locations to explore, and more content for players to dig into. Alongside the latest major update for Grounded 2, Obsidian Entertainment has also released a new roadmap for 2026, giving fans a look at the studio’s upcoming plans for the year.

How to Clear Tang Puddles in Grounded 2 Toxic Tangle DLC

Dealign with Tang Corrossion is not as easy as it seems. Here’s how to clear Tang Puddles and how to increase your Tang resistance in Grounded 2 DLC.

Grounded 2 Releases 2026 Content Roadmap

While Grounded 2 released a launch roadmap last year, Obsidian Entertainment has released an updated version now that the game has already had multiple updates and time in development. Some things have shifted a bit, such as the upcoming Playgrounds update, which was originally part of the “Winter Update” and has since been shifted to its own release outside the Toxic Tangle. Alongside the Playgrounds, it will also include support for Steam Deck and Xbox ROG Ally.

However, where this new roadmap deviates a bit from the original one is that it gives fans a further look down the road with the upcoming Spring and Summer Updates, as well as additional future plans further down the road. The Spring Update appears to be another big one for Grounded 2, adding a new location called the Black Anthill, alongside new armor, weapons, gameplay enhancements like the Buggy Mutations, as well as added resources for base building. The tease also has some redacted information, so players will likely need to wait until closer to the update’s release.

Further down the road is the Summer Update, which appears to be teasing a new location, but it has been redacted as well. Summer will likely be water-focused as Grounded 2‘s buggy system will get one for the water, along with Watery bases and creatures. Then, in the long term, Obsidian is planning an overhaul to the mutations system, and just more of everything from buggies, enemies, bosses, gear, and building materials. However, one thing the roadmap doesn’t reveal is the potential full release of Grounded 2, leaving many to assume it is on the same schedule as the original game, staying in Early Access for two years before ultimately launching in full.

While the wait for launch doesn’t appear to be ending anytime soon, Obsidian has just released one of the biggest Grounded 2 updates yet with Toxic Tangle. The park has expanded once again, bringing in the Community Garden with vertical climbing, hidden paths, and new dangers that players will likely want to ensure they’re geared up. Speaking of, there are new creatures to discover, from the Earwig, Potato Beetles, and the Woolly Aphid. Obsidian teases the return of The Masked Stranger and an encounter with the dangerous Snake Colossus.

However, a new area and enemies to fight aren’t the only pieces in this update. Toxic Tangle also splits Grounded 2 mutations into active and passive categories. Specifically, passive mutations are automatically applied based on the weapon loadout, while active ones remain as they did prior. Base builds can now take advantage of new sets including mushrooms, pumpkins, acorns, scales, and more. Floor hatches are also now available based on community feedback, and for those who have the Founder’s Pack, there are even more new options to play with, like the High Roller’s Dice Bag, Champion’s Banner, and many others.
