Escape from Tarkov is Crossing Over With Its Own Parody Game

Escape from Tarkov is Crossing Over With Its Own Parody Game

Battlestate Games has officially revealed the first-ever crossover for its popular extraction shooter, Escape From Tarkov. The upcoming collaboration sees Escape From Tarkov join forces with its own parody game, Escape From Duckov, with both games set to receive new content in the coming weeks.

Escape From Tarkov spent over eight years in early access and resisted any and all crossovers until now. However, the prospect of collaborating with its own parody game, Escape From Duckov, was too good an idea to pass up. Escape From Duckov is a great extraction shooter in its own right and puts a totally unique spin on the genre, despite the obvious Tarkov-inspired name. A crossover feels like the natural next step between the two, and it doesn’t come as a massive surprise to anyone. Both games have teased an Escape From Tarkov x Escape From Duckov crossover over the last few weeks, so it has been clear for a short while that this was coming. It was simply a matter of when it would be announced.

Move Over Tarkov, Free-to-Play Extraction Shooter Gets Big Update That Adds New Map, Snow Mode, and More to Make It a Valid Replacement

Escape From Tarkov may have helped pioneer the extraction shooter genre, but this free-to-play option has more to offer.

Escape From Tarkov Finally Reveals Duckov Crossover

Now, both Battlestate Games and Team Soda have finally confirmed that Escape From Tarkov and Escape From Duckov are crossing over. The collaboration will see new content arrive in both extraction shooter titles, although it hasn’t actually been confirmed yet what will be heading to Escape From Tarkov. A trailer posted online by Team Soda revealed what players can expect to be added to Escape From Duckov, including a new map where players can “face off against classic characters from Escape From Tarkov.” The crossover begins on February 10 for Escape From Duckov, but it hasn’t been confirmed yet whether this date is the same for the new content coming to Escape From Tarkov. It’s also not clear whether this content will be a permanent addition to both games or whether it’s only intended to be for a limited time.

It’s somewhat surprising that Escape From Tarkov has held out on crossovers for so long. However, they’re becoming the norm for most live-service titles nowadays, and they’re particularly prevalent in games like Call of Duty and Battlefield in recent years. It’s a controversial topic among many gamers, as some believe it’s immersion-breaking to see items and characters from other franchises in these titles. It’s worth noting that Escape From Tarkov has a hardcore player base for whom immersion is very important. With this in mind, it will be interesting to see how this Escape From Tarkov x Escape From Duckov crossover is received by players.

When it was initially released on Steam last year, Escape From Tarkov had a rocky launch from early access. The game was immediately review-bombed, and the game has had to slowly climb its way back up to “Mixed” Steam reviews. Despite this, Battlestate Games has emerged on the other side, and Escape From Tarkov is back on track. Now that the game is released, the developer isn’t resting on its laurels, and plans to continue updating Escape From Tarkov with tons of new content this year. There’s a lot planned, and with the extraction shooter genre blowing up of late thanks to ARC Raiders, it could be a massive year for the game if it can continue to draw in new players. Escape From Tarkov is such a hardcore experience that it undoubtedly isn’t for everyone, but those who do enjoy it tend to stick around for the long haul.
