Pokemon Fan Gives Yamask Different Versions for Every Pokemon Type

Pokemon Fan Gives Yamask Different Versions for Every Pokemon Type

A Pokemon fan artist designed different versions of Yamask and its evolution based on the different types available throughout the franchise. Although some parts of Yamask and its evolution were noticeably altered, the Pokemon fan artist gave them distinct appearances that matched each type.

Known as the Spirit Pokemon, Yamask first appeared in Pokemon Black and White. According to Yamask’s unusual Pokedex entry, this Ghost-type Pokemon is considered to be an ancient spirit that wanders ruins. Yamask also received a Galarian variant in Pokemon Sword and Shield. The original Yamask evolves into Cofagrigus, a pure Ghost-type monster, at level 34. However, Galarian Yamask has an unusual evolution method. It can only evolve into the Ground and Ghost dual-type Runerigus once its trainer walks under a specific arch in the Galar region after taking at least 49 HP of damage without fainting.

A fan of the Pokemon video game series manages to complete one of the most extraordinary challenges regarding the activity known as Shiny hunting.

Dedicated Pokemon Fan Artist Crafts Different Yamask Concepts Based on Each Type

Although Yamask has received Pokemon fan art tributes in the past, one artist chose to give Yamask and its evolution new designs that corresponded with each type that it has not been yet. On the Pokemon subreddit, an artist named Lyndorr posted several hand-drawn designs of Yamask as different elemental types, though each concept retained the Ghost-type as its secondary type. For the Normal-type variant, Yamask was given a stuffed bear to hold in place of its mask. When it evolves, Yamask becomes a fan-made Pokemon called Ursarigus, a Normal and Ghost dual-type that bears a resemblance to Ursaring and Banette in its design. Lyndorr continued this trend with other elemental types. However, they omitted making Ground and Ghost dual-type, and pure Ghost-type, entries to avoid redundancy.

Each fan-made design of Yamask was given a different object to hold in place of its mask, such as a candle for the Fire-type variant, and its eye color changed to match the new type. The type-based designs of Yamask also carried over to the evolutionary concepts that Lyndorr crafted. Each evolution of Yamask also kept the suffix “-rigus” for the sake of consistency, though each prefix changed depending on its main type. For example, the Psychic and Ghost dual-type variant was called Temperigus, while the Fire and Ghost design was named Emberigus. Although each design’s typing and concept art was posted by Lyndorr, no information about each Pokemon’s statistics or abilities was revealed. In response, some Pokemon fans complimented Lyndorr for their handiwork, with some praising the names and designs that went into each elemental evolution of Yamask.

Pokemon Fan Artists May Be Busy This Year

The fan-art contribution came at a busy time for the Pokemon franchise. Later this month, on February 27, Pokemon will observe its 30th anniversary. Ahead of the actual anniversary date, The Pokemon Company has begun some promotional campaigns, including a Pokemon commercial that aired during Super Bowl 60 on February 8. Although the details have not been officially confirmed by The Pokemon Company as of this writing, a Pokemon Presents is expected during the anniversary. While Pokemon Pokopia and Pokemon Champions are expected to launch throughout 2026, Pokemon‘s 10th mainline game generation is also anticipated to arrive this year. The Gen-10 Pokemon titles, dubbed Pokemon Wind(s) and Waves(s) by leakers, are stated to take place in an island archipelago.

Given that Pokemon like Yamask have appeared in multiple regions since its debut, it is plausible that the Spirit Pokemon could make an appearance in some capacity during Pokemon‘s next generation. Although some Pokemon game leaks have been making the rounds on social media, it remains to be seen what The Pokemon Company has in store for trainers this year.
