Steam Users Have Until February 23 to Claim Free Horror Game That’s Like Phasmophobia Meets FNAF

Steam users have yet another free game they can add to their digital libraries, as Paragnosia is free to claim until Monday, February 23. Steam free games are given away on a regular basis, ensuring that there is almost always something that PC gamers can add to their digital libraries without paying a dime.

There have been multiple free Steam games given away in 2026 so far, with a variety of titles up for grabs throughout January and February. Beyond the free games that are usually premium titles, there have been plenty of new free-to-play Steam games added as well. Between all the free game giveaways and new free-to-play releases, Steam users have had no shortage of games to play, and now yet another one can be added to the list.

New Co-Op Horror Game on Steam is GTFO Meets Phasmophobia on a Doomed Train

Steam has plenty of indie horror games, but this newly released title takes the best of GTFO and Phasmophobia and gives it a chaotic twist.

Paragnosia is Free on Steam Until February 23

PC gamers can claim Paragnosia for free on Steam from now until February 23 at 2:00am CST. The horror game developed by Sine Coda was originally released in 2024 and has earned a “Very Positive” overall rating from Steam users. In Paragnosia, players attempt to rid their apartment of paranormal entities. From the safety of their surveillance room, players manipulate a rail camera to discover paranormal happenings and exorcise them. The camera gimmick calls to mind Five Nights at Freddy’s, while the general tone and aesthetic is more akin to something like Phasmophobia. In any case, it looks like it should greatly appeal to horror game fans, especially if they consider themselves fans of those games. If you happen to miss the free giveaway window but are still interested in playing the game, Paragnosia typically retails for $3.99, so you can buy it without breaking the bank.

The ultimate goal of Paragnosia is to survive the entire night. After each round, the number of anomalies players have missed are counted, and locks on the surveillance room door are removed accordingly. If players lose all six of their locks, it’s game over. It’s an interesting concept that should bring a great deal of tension to the experience, and horror game fans should check it out for themselves and see if it lives up to any of the horror games that seem to have inspired it.

Horror game fans that enjoy their time with Paragnosia should note that a sequel for the game is actually in the works. Paragnosia: Museum is in active development and once again has players using a rail camera to spot paranormal activity. The big difference between the first game and the sequel is the location, as Paragnosia swaps an apartment for a museum. A demo for Paragnosia: Museum is out now, so you can try it for free as well.

Looking ahead, there will almost certainly be more free games for Steam users to snag for their digital libraries in the near future. Which games will be free and when they will be given away is more up in the air, but Steam users should definitely keep an eye out for more freebies in the days and weeks ahead.
