Capcom Has a Request for the Resident Evil Community Ahead of Requiem’s Release Date

Capcom Has a Request for the Resident Evil Community Ahead of Requiem’s Release Date

Capcom has just issued a statement ahead of Resident Evil Requiem‘s release, urging fans to follow one specific request. Resident Evil Requiem may just be the most anticipated title in the survival-horror game series yet, promising a combination of the franchise’s two most famous play styles. Pair this with the fact that fan-favorite character Leon S. Kennedy is returning, and it makes sense that fans have been trying to get every small sliver of information regarding the game. But now that Resident Evil Requiem has only a week left until its release, leaks and spoilers have been circulating online.

These Resident Evil Requiem leaks and spoilers all stem from some physical versions of the game being released to the public earlier than they should have been. As a result, some fans have managed to play through large chunks of the game already, leaking the story and major plot points online, much to the dismay of fans who now have to worry about even browsing the web. This transformed into carnage on various online threads or subreddits, with one side of the community begging everyone not to post leaks, while those with access to Resident Evil Requiem continued to do so. It seems things got so bad that now Capcom is having to issue a statement regarding the situation.

Resident Evil Requiem Leak Reveals New Gameplay Details

The latest rumors surrounding Resident Evil Requiem include an alleged leak of early gameplay, which touts an unexpected new addition.

Capcom Issues a Statement Requesting Fans Don’t Post or Share Pre-Release Spoilers

Capcom has issued a statement regarding the pre-release spoilers, requesting fans not to post or share them. Capcom cited wanting everyone to be able to enjoy the game’s story and experience as much as possible, without the worry of stumbling across a spoiler online. Take-downs and deletion notices of these spoilers will continue to be enforced by Capcom’s legal team to preserve everyone’s day-one experiences. The statement ends by reminding fans it’s not long until the release, meaning fans will have to wait just a little longer to experience Resident Evil Requiem.

With Resident Evil Requiem returning Leon to Raccoon City, the story will likely have various major plot points fans don’t want spoiled. Capcom’s stance on the situation seems to be saving various fans the stress of encountering spoilers online, although it doesn’t mean that online spaces are completely free from spoilers. Despite the speed Capcom’s legal team is operating to remove these, there is still the chance of stumbling across a spoiler within its first few minutes of being uploaded. Most fans are siding with Capcom during this, arguing that everyone should be allowed to experience Resident Evil Requiem at their own pace and on their own terms. Many fans have also stated that perhaps leaving the online space until release would be the best thing to do.

Whether or not the story of this Resident Evil entry will live up to expectations is unknown, but after Resident Evil Requiem‘s producer confirmed that characters from the past games will feature, there is clearly a huge story being told in this title. These leaks and spoilers that have been surfacing have already ruined many of the surprises for some fans and have left almost everyone else scared of even browsing the internet. Fans have waited five years for this next entry in the franchise, and the experience for many has now been completely ruined, likely against their will. As Resident Evil Requiem approaches its release and the entire game has practically been leaked online, Capcom is certainly doing the correct thing in issuing a statement and taking down any leaks.
