Ahead of its GO Tour: Kalos event, Pokemon GO is giving players a chance to obtain up to four free Unown by subscribing to the game’s YouTube channels. Pokemon GO is getting ready to wrap up its ongoing Precious Paths season on March 2, and several events are scheduled for the last week of February. Fans can expect to see several Legendary Raids in the coming days, but an even rarer species could make a comeback if players meet certain goals.
Catching an Unown in Pokemon GO is no easy feat. The Johto creatures are some of the rarest Pokemon in Pokemon GO and have incredibly low spawn rates. The best way for players to register Unown in their Pokedex is through limited events where certain Unown are featured. Even then, Unown come in 28 different forms, so fans may not have registered several variations in their Pokedex yet. Thankfully for players, Pokemon GO has recently announced a limited-time opportunity to add more Unown to their collection.
Pokemon GO Reveals Community Day Dates for Next Season
As 2026 gets underway, Pokemon GO players learn new information about the upcoming season, including the dates for new Community Day events.
Pokemon GO Players Have a Chance to Catch X, Y, Z, and A Unown
In a recent Twitter post, Pokemon GO revealed that players have a chance to unlock special Timed Research that will reward the X, Y, Z, and A Unown for free. To achieve this, fans will have to subscribe to any of Pokemon GO‘s YouTube channels and meet specific milestones. The first goal of 2.5K subscribers will unlock Unown X, while the second 5K subscriber goal grants the Y Unown. A third goal of 10K subscribers will unlock both Unown Z and A at the same time. Once the requirements are met, Pokemon GO will share limited redeem codes to access the Timed Research. It is worth noting that players have until February 27 to reach these subscriber milestones, just in time for Pokemon GO‘s upcoming GO Tour: Kalos weekend.

Pokemon GO‘s main YouTube channel currently has over 1.2 million subscribers, while some of its channels for regions like Indonesia and Taiwan have less than 10K. The development team did not detail whether the subscriber milestones only count new followers or not, but Pokemon GO is likely aiming to boost all of its channels in general. On the other hand, if fans are unable to meet the subscriber goals and don’t unlock the Timed Research codes, they still have another way to catch the four Unown through Pokemon GO‘s Road to Kalos event. The Deluxe paid version of the event’s GO Pass grants players encounters with the Unown A, Z, X, and Y at levels 17, 52, 69, and 78, respectively.
An opportunity to catch up to four different Unown is hard to come by for players. Hopefully, for free-to-play fans, the community will be able to meet Pokemon GO‘s requirements on time. In the meantime, from February 23 to 27, players can focus on participating in several Legendary Raids launching every day, featuring fan-favorite Pokemon like the Legendary Bird Trio, Primal Kyogre and Groudon, Black and White Kyurem, and more. Multiple other bonuses will be available, including reduced egg-hatching distance and costumed-Pikachu Raids.
Aside from the four Unown, players will be able to register various rare Pokemon in their Pokedex during GO Tour: Kalos. From February 28 to March 1, Kalos creatures will spawn more frequently, giving fans the chance to farm for Candy. After the event, Pokemon GO will launch its 10th anniversary season, Memories in Motion, expected to debut more popular creatures. Players can also tune in to the next Pokemon Presents showcase on February 27, where the company is set to reveal a ton of content for its titles.
