Call Of Duty Leaker Retires After Activision ‘Legally Demands’ It

TheGhostOfHope, a long-serving Call of Duty leaker, has been legally ordered to stop “leaking and disseminating confidential information” by Activision. While he announced that he still plans to “stick around and chat” about official Call of Duty news in the future, the leaker confirmed he’s now “retired” and plans to comply with the legal demand.

TheGhostOfHope revealed said information in a post on X, roughly six hours after criticising Activision for “trying to shut down any shit that goes viral” in a separate tweet. “Activision has legally demanded that I stop leaking and disseminating confidential information related to Call of Duty/Activision and I am complying with their demands. Still gonna stick around and chat about Official Call of Duty info and anything not related to leaks/confidential information.”

While the leaker’s track record hasn’t been 100 percent perfect in the past five years that he’s been dishing out Call of Duty-related info, the legal move by Activision immediately spurred a wave of speculation regarding its timing. In reply to one post asking if TheGhostOfHope had been “right about everything,” the official Call of Duty X account decided to take the opportunity to rub some salt in the wound. “Nah. Even when leaks are wrong, they still hurt the people building the game and mess with player expectations.”

Considering how frequently TheGhostOfHope posted Call of Duty-related leaks on his X page, it’s difficult to discern exactly which one of his most recent posts spurred Activision into taking action. However, the official Call of Duty X account did make a point of calling out one of the leaker’s stories on February 23, in reply to a post from Dexerto, which referenced a standalone Call of Duty Zombies game. “The rumor factory working overtime,” the X account posted. “This ain’t it.”

TheGhostOfHope signed off with one final follow-up post earlier this morning, which simply stated, “Just wanna say a huge shoutout to the OGs in this community man… You know who you are.”
