PlayStation has revealed a new DualSense controller that the company says is “PC ready,” but the timing of the promotion has left many fans scratching their heads. An official PlayStation account revealed the controller on March 5, which seems to be identical to previous DualSense controllers, but the post says it is now PC ready with easy setup and “epic immersion,” including haptic feedback and Sony’s beloved adaptive triggers.
For the last few years, Sony switched up its approach to PlayStation exclusive titles, such as Marvel’s Spider-Man, Ghost of Tsushima, and the Horizon series, by also bringing many of them to PC. Although these first-party titles are very rarely made available on PC on day one, they have been released on the platform usually one year after they are released for PlayStation 4 or PlayStation 5, although the timeline varies from game to game. One of the most recent PS5 exclusives to hit PC was Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, which arrived a little over one year after it first released for PS5.

PS5 Fans Left Confused by New PC Ready Controller
While there are tons of PlayStation titles available on PC right now, including God of War, Returnal, Marvel’s Spider-Man, Days Gone, and many more, a recent report claims that the studio is reverting course and will no longer pump resources into bringing PlayStation games to PC moving forward. This has led to some serious confusion among gamers after an official PlayStation account promoted a PC ready controller just days after the report from Bloomberg emerged online. There doesn’t seem to be much of a difference in the controller itself, other than it seemingly being a plug-and-play experience for PC users. PlayStation says it has the traditional DualSense features, including haptic feedback and adaptive triggers.
Although Sony hasn’t made an official statement on supposedly moving away from PC releases, many do believe the promotion of this new controller to be rather odd timing. “If you’re not releasing your games on PC, why would PC gamers rather buy a PC Ready Controller?” one user questioned, while another said the company needs to “make up [its] mind,” as to whether or not it’s supporting PC. Others were also confused about what exactly makes the controller PC ready, as one pointed out that DualSense controllers have long been able to be plugged into a PC, with many of the controller’s features being dependent on a game’s developer.
With massive PS5 exclusives like Saros and Marvel’s Wolverine set to hit PS5 consoles later this year, news that Sony is pulling away from PC releases is going to be a massive blow to the community. However, it doesn’t come as much of a surprise, considering many of the PC versions of popular PS5 exclusives haven’t performed well on the platform. But the good news is that Bloomberg’s report claims that games such as Marathon and Marvel Tokon, which are multiplayer-only releases, will continue to be released on both PlayStation consoles and PC. Single-player titles, however, will no longer be released on the platform and will now return to being PS5 exclusives.
The next few months are going to be massive for PS5, but there’s no denying that some pretty disappointing news has come out of PlayStation over the last few weeks. Fans were left disappointed by reports of the company ditching PC releases, but they were even more frustrated when Sony shut down Bluepoint, the studio behind the incredible remake of Demon’s Souls. The decision was made after a business review by PlayStation, with the studio’s closure apparently affecting 70 developers in total.
