Marathon Confirms Highly Requested Change Coming Next Week

Bungie confirms a new update for next week, revealing that a highly requested change from players will finally be making its debut in Marathon. With many extraction shooters, inventory and vault space is a major element, as it’s where players store their valuable weapons, gear, and items, so making sure there’s always room for a new haul is important. The same goes for Marathon and with an update next week, players should have a little more room to continue storing their valuables.

Just recently, Marathon received its first post-launch update, which included various fixes and improvements that many in the community have been asking for. There’s been plenty of discourse over the UESC AI enemies populating the maps, with many claiming they’re just a bit too tough. With this patch, Bungie applied a balance update that slightly reduces the bot’s health and making UESC shields slightly weaker. Thermal scopes saw their effectiveness slightly reduced at certain ranges and the Rook runner shell also saw a number of updates including a couple of fixes for some issues impacting it. It also appears that players should expect to see some sort of update next week as well, with Bungie confirming a highly requested change is on the way.

Marathon’s Latest Update Just Did Something Nobody is Happy With

While Marathon’s 1.0.0.4 update made some positive adjustments, one change is proving hugely controversial, with many pushing for it to be reverted.

Marathon Improves Vault Space Stacking

Through the official Marathon Development Team Twitter account, Bungie confirmed that it is prepping a major change coming to the player’s vault space. Specifically, there’s been plenty of feedback surrounding stack sizes not being large enough for certain consumable items, with things like Ammo, Salvage, and Grenades taking up more space than expected. As such, Bungie is making stack sizes on those items larger, which should help in freeing up more space for Vaults in Marathon. In addition, Bungie is also adding more vault filters for keys and backpacks, helping players sort and find specific items faster. At this point, its unknown how large this update will be and whether it’ll be a simple server-side adjustment or require a full download before playing.

Marathon offers numerous ways to increase vault space, though the stacking size has seemingly been a major thorn in many players’ sides, especially those who have managed to become proficient at extracting. The various factions in Marathon can also help in this regard, especially CyberAcme which has the “Expansion” upgrade. When players purchase additional levels, they gain more rows of space inside their vault. While the amount of rows unlocked continues to diminish the higher the level goes, players should also keep in mind that the upgrade cost will continue to go up in terms of the amount of Credits needed as well as material cost.

Feedback has proven to be a major component for Bungie following the game’s launch. In fact, Bungie revealed even more upcoming changes for Marathon, much of which has been shaped in some way by the community. Combat and player audio are being adjusted, with Bungie confirming that the changes made in the recent update were an overcorrection. Specifics were not provided, as Bungie admitted it is still “aligning on how to ensure the best player experience.” The other big piece Bungie is looking at is how to help players get more out of their high-end PC setups, with long-term goals including further performance improvements.

Recently, Bungie made a quick pivot to its microtransaction systems based on player complaints. Specifically, $10 LUX bundles only gave 1,100 currency, which wasn’t enough to purchase new runner skins. For those who purchased those bundles, they’;lklk be getting a 20LUX credit and the overall value of the $10 bundles has been increased to 1,120 which is now enough to afford a skin without having to immediately buy a second bundle. In addition, Bungie is improving Marathon‘s Reward Pass with April’s midseason update by adding more runner skins on both the premium and free tracks. The free track will also be getting the WSTR Shotgun Style and a Profile Emblem as well.
