Blizzard has released the patch notes for the first two Diablo 4 Season 12 hotfixes, targeting multiple issues that have affected players in the early days of the new season. These updates have already been pushed to the live version of Diablo 4, smoothing out some of the more frustrating issues in Season 12.
Diablo 4 Season 12, the Season of Slaughter, launched on March 11, 2026, giving players the ability to transform into The Butcher for the first time ever. Killstreaks make their return from Diablo 3, too. Blizzard has also made a few controversial changes, such as the nerfs to Diablo 4‘s World and Lair Boss XP in Season 12. However, the Season of Slaughter has been generally well-received by fans. Because the Lord of Hatred expansion is set to launch on April 28, Season 12 is expected to be slightly shorter than usual, which is why it doesn’t feel as expansive as other recent seasons of the game.

Following the launch of Diablo 4 Season 12, Blizzard has quickly released two hotfixes to address some of the issues players have faced so far. The first hotfix on March 12 made a single change, fixing an issue where Shrines of Slaughter were spawning more enemies than intended. This was followed up by a second hotfix a day later, which solved three more issues. The first removed many Diablo 4 Killstreak audio lines from the game after some players complained that they were causing confusion during gameplay. In the Blizzard thread regarding the changes, this change received the most pushback from players, with one user claiming that the Season of Slaughter “absolutely lost its soul.” The next fix resolved a progression bug for one of the new seasonal quests, which was massive for the few who were experiencing it. The final change fixed a glitch causing the Ceh rune to fail to spawn Wolves.
It’s still very early days in Diablo 4 Season 12, so Blizzard hasn’t yet made any sweeping gameplay changes to the new season. Further balance changes could arrive down the line, but nothing is guaranteed at this point. Because the seasons are often only a few months long, bigger changes are often left for the next PTR, testing them for the next season. Regardless, these latest changes are a step in the right direction for Season 12, and the speed at which Blizzard has acted is a good sign of things to come for the season.
Diablo 4: Lord of Hatred‘s launch is just over a month away, and is set to add a new class to the game: the Warlock. The Paladin will also become available to all players, as it is currently exclusive to those who pre-order the new expansion. The game’s short-term future is very exciting, with plenty of content on the way in the coming months. Looking ahead, Blizzard has recently spoken about its desire to speed up the development of Diablo games, indicating that the studio is already planning for the next title in the series. Gamers shouldn’t expect to hear anything concrete about a new Diablo game any time soon, especially as Diablo 4 continues to thrive.
