Pokemon GO Reveals Gen 8 Pokemon Debut for April Event

Pokemon GO has confirmed the debut of Silicobra and its evolution, Sandaconda, for its upcoming Sustainability Week event. 2026 has been a very active year for Pokemon GO with several major events in a row since January. The AR title recently launched its 10th anniversary season, Memories in Motion, which is set to end on June 2. In the following months, more monsters are expected to make their Pokemon GO debuts, including a Galar Ground-type.

Although Pokemon GO‘s first Gen 8 creatures batch was released back in 2020, there are still some Galar Pokemon missing from the game’s Pokedex. The development team continues to steadily add Galarian monsters through limited events, such as the recently debuted Blipbug and its evolutions during March’s Bug Out event. Before this, Pokemon GO had not launched new Gen 8 Pokemon since December 2025. It seems players won’t have to wait too long for the next Galar debut, though, as the game has revealed the addition of a popular snake-like Pokemon.

Pokemon GO Reveals Sustainability Week Event with Silicobra Debut

Pokemon GO has confirmed that its Sustainability Week 2026 event will debut the Ground-type Silicobra and its evolution, Sandaconda. The event will run from Tuesday, April 14, to Monday, April 20. Silicobra will start spawning in the wild and can be evolved into Sandaconda using 50 Silicobra Candy. Silicobra is a very popular snake Pokemon first discovered in Galar, so many players were anticipating its Pokemon GO debut. The Sustainability Week event will also debut the shiny variant of Toedscool and release Galarian Corsola wearing pink sunglasses. However, Pokemon GO does not specify whether the costumed Corsola will be able to evolve into Cursola or not. Galarian Corsola with sunglasses will spawn more frequently on Routes, along with increased chances of shiny Togetic, shiny Trubbish, and shiny Lapras.

Event-themed Pokemon like Castform, Seedot, Wiglett, Toedscool, and Silicobra can be encountered in the wild globally, but Pokemon GO adds that the latter three will spawn more frequently in their natural biome. The game does not detail which kind of environment Silicobra prefers, but it hints that the Pokemon belongs to “desert-like areas.” Moreover, an event-exclusive GO Pass will go live, including rewards like half Egg hatch distance and double the XP from spinning PokeStops. Players who purchase the GO Pass Deluxe can also obtain a limited avatar pose. Finally, during Sustainability Week, 7km Eggs will hatch Lapras, Togepi, normal Castform, Trubbish, and Galarian Corsola with pink glasses. The event comes right after Tinkatink’s highly-awaited April Community Day.

Sustainability Week is an annual in-game event that commemorates the real-world Earth Day in April. After four consecutive years of holding the event, the Pokemon GO team decided to skip the 2025 edition, but the event is making a comeback for 2026. Aside from the launch of Silicobra, this year’s Sustainability Week focuses on Pokemon GO‘s Routes, the feature that promotes walking while playing with the game’s community. Players who are looking to catch many copies of Galarian Corsola with pink sunglasses should not pass up the event’s Routes bonuses. Routes also allow fans to exchange Gifts with players from all over the world, increasing their chances of pinning non-local postcards for Vivillon copies.

Memories in Motion will soon wrap up its first month, but more exciting events have already been confirmed. On March 28, Pokemon GO will release Gigantamax Pikachu, one of the most fan-requested Gigantamax debuts. The season’s trailer also teased the debut of Flittle and Espathra. Pokemon GO has not set a date for these monsters’ release yet, but players can expect an official announcement in the coming weeks.
