Pokemon GO has revealed the debut of the Gen 9 Steel-type creature Orthworm for the upcoming Steeled Resolve event arriving in late April. As the game approaches its 10th anniversary, Pokemon GO players have a ton of exciting limited events to look forward to over the next few months. The ongoing Memories in Motion season has brought some long-awaited debuts in March, including Gigantamax Pikachu and Blipbug. The AR game has already confirmed that April will also feature more monster releases.
April was off to a strong start for Pokemon GO fans. For April Fools’ Day, Pokemon GO debuted the fan-favorite Mimikyu with no previous warning. The Ghost-Fairy-type started spawning in the wild as part of the A Shockingly Good Time event. Later, on April 4, the game hosted a Fashion Raid Day event with over ten costumed Pokemon available. Now, a returning limited event centered around Steel-type monsters is coming, featuring the debut of a popular earthworm Pokemon from Pokemon Scarlet and Violet.

Pokemon GO Reveals Orthworm Debut in Steeled Resolve Event
Pokemon GO is debuting the Gen 9 monster Orthworm for the next edition of its Steeled Resolve event, which will run from Tuesday, April 28, to Monday, May 4. During the event, Orthworm will appear in 3-Star Raids, so players will have to battle it to catch it. Additionally, unlike most Pokemon debuts, Orthworm will have its shiny counterpart in-game at launch. The Steeled Resolve event will also focus on Meltan, and fans who use a Mystery Box in Pokemon GO during the event will have a chance of encountering shiny Meltan. The wait time to open new Mystery Boxes will also be reduced. Moreover, Steel-type creatures like Magnemite, Aron, Ferroseed, Pawniard, and more will appear more frequently in the wild.
Completing event-themed Field Research will grant players encounters with Pineco, Nosepass, Drilbur, and more. 1-Star Raids will also feature Honedge, Shieldon, and Beldum, all with a chance of being shiny. Finally, players will automatically unlock the limited GO Pass: Steeled Resolve – Taken Over. Progressing through the GO Pass will reward fans with double the Candy from catches, a Super Rocket Radar, and encounters with Meltan and other event-themed monsters. Steel-type Pokemon in Pokemon GO can be quite useful in PvP battles and Raids, so players should not pass up the opportunity to stock up on Candy for powerful creatures like Meltan or Metagross.
In the mainline games, Orthworm is known as the Lurking Steel Titan from Pokemon Scarlet and Violet, a giant earthworm Pokemon that players have to defeat. It seems Orthworm will follow a similar fate in Pokemon GO by debuting in Raids instead of spawning in the wild. Whether Orthworm’s availability in Pokemon GO will be exclusive to limited events remains to be seen. On the other hand, Orthworm has gradually increased in popularity among fans as well, and is even part of Pokemon Champions‘ current lineup.
