Counter-Strike 2 Pro Issued 10-Year Ban After Punching Opponent

A Counter-Strike 2 pro named MAUschine has been officially banned from competing in any further eSports events for 10 years after punching one of his competitors in the face, live on stage, following his loss at the CAGGTUS Leipzig tournament last night.

The altercation took place on April 19 during the livestreamed tournament during the closing awards segment. As the clips circulating on social media show, MAUschine brazenly struck competitor Spidergum in the face while the pros were lining up to accept their awards at the end of the CS2 event.

While there’s obviously no justification for the assault, users on X think they’ve discovered what led to MAUschine’s decision to punch his opponent. As shown in the clip below, Spidergum shouted the phrase “papi chulo,” which is apparently MAUschine’s catchphrase, after killing MAUschine during the tournament. It’s also Spanish for “cute daddy,” if that’s in any way relevant.

MAUschine was immediately escorted offstage following the assault and, as spotted by Dot eSports, was subsequently issued a 10-year-long ban by event organizers DACH CS Masters.

“We do not tolerate physical assaults against other players at LAN and have acted accordingly,” DACH CS Masters announced in a post on X. “MAUschine is banned for at least 10 years and the incident has additionally been reported to [Esports Integrity Commission]. In case it wasn’t clear, we think violence has no place in our league.”

Spidergum seems to be unshaken by the assault, as he played it off with a tongue-in-cheek post on X following the event. “Sick, experienced everything,” Spidergum stated in a post on X (as machin- translated from German), “B3B Caggtus CS2 winner. Bullseye from Mauschine, better aim than with the AWP and especially on stream.”

However, based on his reply to a comment from someone on his post, who stated that he should “consider reporting that guy,” Spidergum is seemingly considering following up on the assault, as he simply replied, “Yes, you’re right.”
