Kingdom Come: Deliverance‘s Henry actor, Tom McKay, has revealed he would be open to the possibility of returning to the role in the upcoming movie adaptation. McKay portrayed Henry of Skalitz in Warhorse Studios’ Kingdom Come: Deliverance and its 2025 sequel, but should the opportunity arise to reprise the role, he would be ready to do so.
Away from video games, McKay has spent the majority of his career on stage, performing for the Royal Shakespeare Company and at London’s National Theatre. He has also had small roles in film and TV over the years, but his turn as Henry in 2018’s Kingdom Come: Deliverance was a breakthrough for McKay. As both the voice and motion-capture actor for the character, McKay has delivered performances that perfectly capture Henry’s different dimensions while also showing his personal progression throughout the games. The discussion around Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2‘s award prospects last year led many to believe McKay could receive award recognition for his role. While he was not nominated at The Game Awards 2025, he received nominations at both the Golden Joystick Awards and the BAFTA Game Awards.

Tom McKay Would Be Open to Playing Henry in KCD Movie Adaptation
McKay was in attendance at the 2026 BAFTA Game Awards, where he was nominated in the Performer in a Leading Role category. Prior to the ceremony, he spoke to This Week in Videogames about potentially returning to the role of Henry of Skalitz in a Kingdom Come: Deliverance movie adaptation. “That is absolutely not my decision to make,” McKay explained. “I love the sort of complexity and three-dimensional nature of this character, I love playing him. You know, it would be very unlikely that I wouldn’t want to do it again if I were offered. But also, there’s a huge palette of ideas that you can be presented with with this narrative. So if I were in it, I would love that, and if I wasn’t, I’d support it wholeheartedly.”
As a performer, McKay has already shown himself to be the perfect Henry of Skalitz. But whether he returns could depend on how accurately the adaptation mirrors the story of both Kingdom Come: Deliverance games. It’s not confirmed exactly how old Henry is in either title, but as a blacksmith’s son, it’s implied that he starts the series as a young adult. McKay is 46 years old, which, if it is a direct live-action adaptation of the story, could be an issue. It would be a shame, given how excellent he is as Henry, but it would equally open up the exciting possibility for another talented actor to put their own spin on the role.

Very little is known about the Kingdom Come: Deliverance movie at this point. Earlier this year, series director Daniel Vavra stepped away from game development to work on the KCD movie, allowing him to take on a new challenge while remaining involved with the franchise. However, it doesn’t seem as though the movie is far along in development yet, so fans will just have to wait patiently until more news is forthcoming.

It’s unclear whether McKay will ever play Henry again in any capacity. Following the release of Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2‘s final DLC last year, it seems that Henry’s story is completely finished, and Warhorse Studios has not confirmed whether it plans to return to the series in the future. Regardless, it’s good to know that, if the opportunity appears, McKay is seemingly ready and willing to take on the role of Henry.
