Alan Wake 2 director Sam Lake has revealed that its upcoming DLC, the Night Springs Expansion, will be launching June 8, 2024. Fans were clued in about Alan Wake 2‘s presence at Summer Game Fest early on, as Remedy Entertainment teased fans with more information regarding its paid expansions. Going into the show, fans were unsure about when the game’s DLC would be launched, with very few expecting that it would release the following day after Summer Game Fest.
Alan Wake 2 first launched in October 2023, as a sequel to the original cult classic psychological thriller from 2010. Remedy Entertainment confirmed that the game would be getting two paid DLC expansions, known as Night Springs and Lake House. Following Geoff Keighley introducing Lake to the stage, Lake made a show of announcing when the game’s DLC would release, even cheekily checking his watch, before dropping how Night Springs would be launched in “less than 24 hours,” along with showing a new trailer for the DLC.

This new trailer for Alan Wake 2‘s DLC takes after a classic television show, The Twilight Zone, complete with an homage to Rod Sterling’s iconic intro, along with the logo itself being modeled on the show as well. When Does Alan Wake 2 – Night Springs Expansion Launch?
The content of the first expansion for Alan Wake 2 includes three new episodes that feature alternate versions of familiar characters from the game, specifically the ones that hail from Night Springs. There are three playable characters featured in this expansion, with one being the Time Breaker, who looks to manipulate time to benefit themselves, another is the North Star, who wishes to unravel the secrets of the world, and the third is a Number One fan, who wishes to fight the various shadows in order to save her love. The tone is suitably a lot more goofy, though it still has the same Alan Wake charm that fans might have expected.
Alan Wake 2 had previously won over 200 different awards, including various Game of the Year awards from a variety of shows. While a critical smash, its commercial prospects are not as great, as there have been reports of Remedy Entertainment struggling to make back Alan Wake 2‘s budget. This DLC should be a good way to possibly draw in new fans, along with keep old fans invested in the lore of Alan Wake 2 and the overall Remedyverse.
