Resident Evil Requiem has been out for around two weeks now, and it’s already proven to be hugely successful. Considering how popular the Resident Evil franchise is, that’s not too shocking. However, the new chapter surprised many fans with its bold lore decisions. It was a risky move on director Koshi Nakanishi’s part, but it proved to be well worth it. Resident Evil Requiem is one of the strongest stories that the franchise has seen in a while, and many are already wanting more.
In classic Resident Evil fashion, Requiem‘s story ends on a massive cliffhanger that has players asking what lies in store for characters like Leon, Grace, and Sherry next. It seems like Grace’s story is pretty much wrapped up, but Resident Evil Requiem‘s ending made it clear that Leon still has plenty of gas left in the tank when it comes to more stories starring the beloved roundhouse-kicking agent. The game’s finale has already sparked plenty of theories that are hopefully addressed in the upcoming DLC.
Major spoilers ahead for Resident Evil Requiem.
Leaks and Rumors About Resident Evil Requiem’s DLC Are Now in the Spotlight
There were already expectations of an expansion before Requiem even launched, but it has now become reality. Director Koshi Nakanishi recently took to social media to announce that a Resident Evil Reqiuem DLC is in development. He didn’t give any insight into when players can expect the expansion to be released, but official confirmation that it’s on the way is exciting enough at the moment. Before the DLC is ready, Nakanishi also confirmed that two major updates will be coming to Requiem in the near future:
- Photo mode
- A mysterious mini-game

These two features are planned to arrive by May. Beyond that, Nakanishi will hopefully share details about the DLC around that time, too. Only time will tell, but there have already been some intriguing leaks and rumors that could make for a thrilling Resident Evil Requiem expansion.
Leon and Chris Seem Destined to Reunite
At the end of Requiem, Grace and Leon are rescued by Chris Redfield’s Hound Wolf Squad. Unfortunately, Chris is nowhere to be found, but the agent who finds Grace and Leon in the ARK rubble says, “I have a message from Captain Redfield.” Players never get to hear what this message is, but it’s possible that he’s reaching out to Leon to help out with the BSAA. Now that Leon has Elpis, bioweapons can be made obsolete. The BSAA was originally founded to stop bioterrorism, but Resident Evil Village‘s ending reveals that the organization has become corrupted and is using bioweapons itself. An expansion where Chris and Leon team up together to take down the BSAA’s bioweapons using Elpis definitely isn’t impossible. Chris Redfield in Requiem feels like more than just simple fan service, so it wouldn’t be too surprising to see him fully return in the DLC.
Alyssa Ashcroft Could Take Center Stage
Alyssa is integral to Resident Evil Requiem‘s story, but she’s only in the game for a short period before meeting her abrupt and heartbreaking end. Her background and connection to Oswell Spencer is a wild revelation that adds a deeper layer to Grace’s story. It’s quite possible that Alyssa’s story is tied up, but well-known leaker Dusk Golem believes there could be more on the way. The leaker stated in a recent tweet, “I’ve heard murmurs of a RE9 DLC starring Alyssa myself.” An Alyssa Ashcroft DLC for Resident Evil Requiem would likely be more stealth-focused, like Grace’s sections.
What’s the Deal With Zeno and The Connections?
It’s now known that Zeno was one of the highest-ranking members of The Connections. This organization has been one of the most mysterious additions to the Resident Evil lore since first showing up in Resident Evil 7. Requiem brought forth some of the biggest insights into the crime syndicate yet, and there is hopefully more on the way. At the end of the game, Zeno injects himself with Elpis, not knowing that it’s actually a bioweapon cure. This turns Zeno back into a human, and Victor Gideon quickly decapitates him. Zeno is now seemingly gone for good, but it may not be that simple.
In Requiem‘s post-credit scenes, people who are likely Connections soldiers infiltrate the ARK’s rubble. A dead BSAA agent lies on the ground, with one soldier saying, “Remaining BSAA forces have been neutralized. Retrieving the objective before they send in the wolves.” There are a lot of questions about what this “objective” could be. It’s possible that it could be another Oswell Spencer project. However, another theory is that it’s Zeno’s body or head. Even if he’s technically dead, The Connections could have the means to resurrect him somehow. Requiem also hints that he’s an Albert Wesker clone, which would be perfect for a DLC to tackle.
If Zeno were to return, or The Connections were the main antagonist in some way, this could also be another situation that would allow for a Chris and Leon reunion as they try to take down the organization. This could even set the stage for Ada Wong to return. It’s not hard to imagine a scenario where she and Leon are on separate missions to infiltrate the group, only to run into each other again.
Based on concept art and glimpses of Leon’s hand in the post-credit scenes, a lot of fans are convinced that he is married. The main theories point to Ada Wong or Claire Redfield, so it would be interesting if the DLC addressed this.
The Resident Evil Requiem DLC Has A Lot of Ground to Cover
As great as Resident Evil Requiem‘s story is, there are a lot of unanswered questions that are hopefully addressed soon. Resident Evil is notorious for leaving some story threads hanging for a long time. The next main Resident Evil game after Requiem probably won’t be ready until 2030, so it would be good for the expansion to bring more answers to fans. There’s also the possibility that Requiem gets more than one DLC. That would be the best-case scenario, but only time will tell. Until Capcom is ready to officially announce what the DLC is based around, there are bound to be even more rumors and leaks as the year continues.
