If they take advantage of October 2026’s free games, PC players can greatly expand their libraries by adding more than a dozen worthwhile titles, and that number is on the low end. Right now, you can claim Doom Eternal, System Shock 2: 25th Anniversary Remaster, and High on Life, but you’ll need to act quickly to avoid missing out.

Every Thursday at 8 AM PT or 11 AM EST, you can log on and add a title or two to your library at no extra cost. Most giveaways are indie titles a couple of years old, but they tend to be a bit more well-known than most of Steam’s freebies.

Buried Stars is currently free, and it’s a murder mystery visual novel with a fairly positive reputation, all things considered. The story dives into the entertainment industry and idol culture, and you have to solve a whodunit and a locked-room thriller.

System Shock 2: 25th Anniversary Remaster

The other free Epic Games Store game chosen to kickstart October 2026 is System Shock 2‘s remaster, which is a pretty big deal, all things considered. Nightdive’s project launched in 2025, and System Shock 2 is an all-time masterpiece that helped define the immersive sim genre. While showing its age in places, the gameplay mostly holds up, and the remaster modernizes the original without undermining its quality.

Amazon Luna / Prime Gaming (Requires Amazon Prime Membership)

Despite being far less well-known than Epic or Steam, Amazon Prime Gaming (aka Amazon Luna) arguably delivers October’s best free games lineup, and it’s hardly the first month this has been the case. Technically, these titles aren’t free, as you need an Amazon Prime subscription to claim them; however, almost nobody gets Amazon Prime just to pick up these giveaways, so the games might as well be free.

Spread across multiple platforms like GOG and even the Epic Games Store, you can add Doom Eternal, Doom 1 and 2, Botany Manor, High on Life, and Zoria: Age of Shattering to your collection, and that’s far from a complete lineup. Amazon typically adds freebies a couple of times per month, so October 2026’s selection should evolve over the coming weeks.

Alienware Arena 30th Anniversary Battle Pass

Now for something a little bit different. Alienware Arena rewards subscribers with ARP (Alienware Reward Points) for visiting the site, and points increase if you maintain a daily streak. You can then redeem those points for a wide range of items, including DLC or even full games. At any given time, the platform offers a few Steam game giveaways; for instance, DOOMSPIRE was recently available for just 10 ARP, while Observer: System Redux was on offer for 100.

Throughout October, Alienware Arena is celebrating Alienware’s 30th anniversary by issuing a Battle Pass. Once you create a (free) account and start the (free) Battle Pass, you gradually accumulate points and reach milestones that reward ARP, Avatars for your account, or Battle Tokens. Later in October, a store will open featuring rewards you can claim with your Battle Tokens, including game keys that cost 100 tokens each.

The current lineup includes more than 20 titles, including big-name releases like Death Loop, The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered, The Evil Within, Cassette Beasts, and RoboCop: Rogue City.
