Following a successful Kickstarter campaign, upcoming creature-collecting game Wonderful Neoran Valley has revealed its first official gameplay and cinematic trailer. The game reached all its Kickstarter stretch goals after raising over €900,000, securing professional voice acting and ports for Nintendo Switch 2 and PlayStation 5, and it is also now available to wishlist on Steam.
To be more accurate, the first trailer for Wonderful Neoran Valley was released around the time its Kickstarter campaign launched. However, developer Nara Studio has since changed several aspects of the game, and this new trailer could be seen as the game’s first official reveal featuring enhanced visuals and a new cast of voice actors.
Wonderful Neoran Valley Casts Troy Baker and Ben Starr
The latest trailer for Wonderful Neoran Valley confirms that protagonist Knight, who now sports a revamped look, is voiced by Troy Baker, known for his roles as Joel Miller in The Last of Us and Higgs Monaghan in Death Stranding. Knight’s companion, Iris, is performed by Ben Starr, another renowned actor known for voicing Verso in Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 and Clive Rosfield in Final Fantasy 16. The trailer also marks Wonderful Neoran Valley‘s official debut on Steam. As of October 27, fans can add the game to their wishlists on Valve’s storefront to stay up to date with future announcements.
For those unfamiliar with the game, Wonderful Neoran Valley is a narrative-driven monster-collecting game featuring around 85 collectible creatures. Known as Neorans, these creatures combine animal forms with plant life. Similar to Pokemon generations, they come in different shapes and sizes and have unique abilities and types. Neorans can be used in turn-based battles, but Wonderful Neoran Valley adds a unique combat twist: Players can see the enemy’s next seven moves in advance and plan their strategy accordingly. Neorans have also been confirmed to have evolution lines, though little has been revealed about them at the time of writing.
Since its initial reveal, Wonderful Neoran Valley has been compared to games like Palworld and Pokemon, which is hardly surprising. However, Italian developer Nara Studio seems hard at work creating a distinctive, lively world with unique characters and a gripping story. One interesting approach the team has taken to the genre is adding horror elements, creating an intriguing contrast with the game’s overall cozy vibe.
Regarding the game’s development, Nara Studio says, “The game’s first act is almost complete, and we’re getting close to having a full roster of Neorans who will appear in the final game.” However, fans of creature-collecting games should note that Wonderful Neoran Valley is expected to hit shelves in March 2028, assuming everything goes according to plan. Those who want to play the game early can back Wonderful Neoran Valley on Kickstarter by purchasing the Alpha Tester package.
