Apex Legends Reveals 2026 Roadmap

Apex Legends Reveals 2026 Roadmap

Respawn Entertainment has shared a development roadmap for Apex Legends, mapping out new content and changes for the rest of 2026 and into 2027. While Season 28 of Apex Legends just got underway, the development team is already giving players an idea of what to expect from the battle royale further down the road.

Each season of Apex Legends introduces new features and makes changes to the weapon and character meta to shake up the gameplay experience. Season 28, known as Breach, was no different, adding the tactical mechanic Hardlight, which lets players break windows. In addition, the developer reworked Fuse and made updates to Bloodhound’s and Catalyst’s kits. While these changes were revealed ahead of the release of Season 28, players recently received a glimpse at much more that Respawn has in the works.

Apex Legends Roadmap for 2026 and Early 2027

On February 12, Respawn released a roadmap for Apex Legends that detailed new content and events planned for the battle royale in 2026 and early 2027. Specifically, the roadmap showed content for Season 28 through Season 32, with some significant things to look forward to in the months ahead. Notably, the developer plans to release two Legends within a year. The first will be a new Skirmisher Legend for Season 29, and the second is coming in Season 32, which starts in February 2027. Besides new Legends, the roadmap noted that an existing character is getting a rework in Season 30, with another in Season 31. Furthermore, the Legend Class system will be overhauled in Season 32.

Beyond these Legends plans, Respawn has revealed updates for Apex Legends‘ maps. While there does not appear to be a brand-new map in the works, a “major map update” is planned for Season 32, which the developer notes will “bring a little dose of nostalgia to our seasoned players.” In addition, tweaks to POIs are expected in the coming seasons, with a competitive update planned for World’s Edge in Season 30. For context, Respawn gave Olympus a significant overhaul at the start of Season 27, marking the last significant map update

The road ahead for Apex Legends also includes a new Akimbo weapon in Season 31. While the gun getting the dual-wield treatment was not mentioned specifically, it was described as a “fan favorite.” Currently, P2020s and Mozambiques can be dual-wielded in Apex Legends. There will also be an overhaul of the looting system in Season 30.

Respawn is adopting a “Community-Focused development process” moving forward. With this in mind, the schedule includes plans for frequent Legend and weapon balance, quality-of-life updates, and audio improvements, along with tweaks to anti-cheat, matchmaking, and server performance. It is worth noting that this roadmap is fluid, meaning the release of certain content could change depending on development factors. Nevertheless, Respawn wanted to be as “thorough as possible” when laying out its plans.

Season 28 of Apex Legends Has Faced Controversy

Unfortunately, this roadmap comes as the developer faces some criticism regarding Season 28. Notably, controversial Ranked changes in Apex Legends left many players frustrated with the experience, as drop zones were removed in place of a singular dropship once again. While the developer has explained that the change was made to try to increase the Ranked population, many players feel that it leads to lobbies that die out too quickly.

Despite the frustrations some are having with Season 28, it is nice to see Respawn giving players a look at what the company has planned in the months ahead. Typically, players have had to wait until close to the start of a new Apex Legends season to learn what’s coming next. Ultimately, time will tell if the planned changes will be able to bring more players back to the battle royale in the weeks ahead.
