ARC Raiders Players Aren’t Happy With New ‘Devotee’ Skin

ARC Raiders Players Aren’t Happy With New ‘Devotee’ Skin

The ARC Raiders community appears to once again be questioning Embark Studios’ decision-making when it comes to new skins, as the recent Devotee Outfit has sparked fresh backlash, with hundreds of players calling it “weird” and noting how they “dislike most of the skins in the game.” The latest ARC Raiders update dropped earlier this week, making a handful of bug fixes and adding some new cosmetic items to the game, which have unfortunately prompted players to bash the game’s skins yet again.

While many are patiently waiting for this month’s major content update, Embark is using the time between to address exploits, bugs, and other issues. The latest round of improvements came as part of a new ARC Raiders patch that was released on March 10, which fixed numerous bugs and a popular exploit that was still allowing players to use the Snap Hook and immediately place it into their Safe Pocket while still in use. Embark also revealed that it will be returning kits to players affected by a recent server outage, as the studio noted how a large portion of players were affected by the issue. Although it does not usually return kits in this instance, Embark says it is willing to make an exception on this occasion.

Marathon vs. ARC Raiders on Steam Player Count

Marathon is now here to bring ARC Raiders its first big competitor, and this is how each game’s Steam player count is shaping up.

ARC Raiders Players Think the New Devotee Skin Is “Weird”

As well as the many new fixes and improvements, this week’s new ARC Raiders update also added more cosmetics to the game as part of the in-game store refresh. The Devotee bundle, which can be purchased for 1,500 Raider Tokens, is available now, alongside a new mustache and hairstyle, both of which cost 500 Raider Tokens each. Unfortunately, the Devotee skin appears to have once again prompted backlash from players, as a new post on the game’s subreddit has garnered over 3,200 upvotes and over 1,300 comments, many of which are criticizing the outfit. “Who is green-lighting these skins?” the poster questioned, before stating that the new cosmetic outfit feels “churned out of a weird fashion show.”

Embark has previously made it clear that ARC Raiders‘ skins are designed to fit the theme of the world, meaning many of the Outfits are supposed to appear hastily put together with clothing items that don’t necessarily go together. While some say the skins are “cool,” many others seemingly disagree. “I have ~4000 credits unspent since the game launched. I want to use them! I don’t need Fortnite or Call of Duty skins, but damn dude, this stuff ain’t it,” a fellow player said.

This isn’t the first time that players have been unhappy with a new ARC Raiders skin, and it probably won’t be the last. Earlier this year, Embark released the highly anticipated Abyss Outfit, which was first spotted by players during a pre-release trailer. The skin was similar to many others in the game, keeping with the post-apocalyptic theme. However, the outfit drew criticism for the questionable leather corset-style pants that came with it. Fans even said they would have bought the skin immediately, had it not been for the odd style of pants.

Although there seems to be constant controversy surrounding the game’s cosmetic items, ARC Raiders has been a huge success for developer Embark Studios. The studio’s latest shooter not only launched to rave reviews from both players and critics, but has also taken on the likes of Call of Duty and Battlefield and emerged victorious. ARC Raiders not only won Best Multiplayer and the 2025 Game Awards, but has maintained an impressive playerbase months after launch. While Battlefield 6 has lost nearly 90% of its player count on Steam, ARC Raiders is still going strong, peaking at over 200,000 concurrent players on the platform every single day.
