ARC Raiders Players Aren’t Happy With This Highly Anticipated Skin

ARC Raiders Players Aren’t Happy With This Highly Anticipated Skin

Developer Embark Studios has finally released the Abyss cosmetic bundle in ARC Raiders, which includes one of the most highly anticipated skins after it was spotted by fans in a pre-release trailer. Unfortunately, the ARC Raiders community appears to be picking apart the outfit and criticizing certain sections that weren’t visible when it debuted in a trailer almost three months ago. Some have even gone so far as to redesign the skin and say they would have “bought [it] immediately” had Embark gone with a different design.

Cosmetics will always be a controversial topic of conversation when it comes to live service titles, but some disappointment from fans regarding the game’s skins hasn’t stopped ARC Raiders from being a massive success. According to publisher Nexon, the third-person extraction shooter, which is only Embark’s second ever game, has already surpassed 12.4 million copies, with 2.4 million of them being sold in 2026 alone. The publisher also revealed that ARC Raiders achieved a new record this month, peaking at more than 960,000 concurrent players across PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC, making it the biggest day so far for the shooter.

Arc Raiders hits 12.4M lifetime sales after moving 2.4M copies in 2026 so far, with the extraction shooter also peaking at nearly one million players.

ARC Raiders Player Redesigns The New Abyss Skin

Despite a solid start to 2026, fans are already picking apart the newest ARC Raiders skin, which was added to the game on January 13 as part of update 1.11.0. The Abyss outfit was first seen in a pre-release trailer many months ago, and it quickly caught the attention of the community for its stand-out design. However, one part of the skin couldn’t be seen in the trailer: the pants. Now that the skin is available in-game, players have gotten a good look at it, and they’re not happy.

The full, original design can be seen in a post here, which shows off the questionable leather corset-style pants. Fans were left massively disappointed by the skin, which led some to make use of AI generation to redesign the lower half of the outfit. “I would have bought this immediately,” one user said after showing off what the skin could have looked like. “It’s like Embark purposely adds one stupid piece to every skin design so not too many people buy one skin,” another player speculated. Hundreds of other comments echoed similar statements, with some blasting it as “disappointing” and others simply begging Embark to redesign the skin.

This isn’t the first time that ARC Raiders players have been unhappy with a skin, and it likely won’t be the last. The most recent controversy was only last week, when Embark released the new Marco set in the game’s store. While players didn’t take issue with the overall appearance of the skin, many were quick to claim that the developer was “falsely advertising” the outfit due to the fact that the store image for the bundle shows a white helmet, which isn’t one of the three color designs available for the skin.

Aside from the new Abyss bundle, the latest ARC Raiders update also included some new balance adjustments. After dominating PvP encounters for the last few weeks, Embark has finally nerfed the Trigger Nade. The studio says the nerf should make it less usable as a “trigger-in-air” grenade, but still remain useful as a sticky bomb. The Trigger Nade has had its damage falloff rebalanced to concentrate damage closer to the center of the explosion and deal less damage farther away, and its delay between triggering and detonation has been increased from 0.7 seconds to 1.5 seconds. The Kettle has also had its fire rate reduced from 600 to 450 in order to prevent users from abusing macros to fire the weapon much quicker than humanly possible.
