Rumors of an Assassin’s Creed Black Flag remake are heating up, thanks to a new product listing that has gone live. Assassin’s Creed Black Flag was released all the way back on October 29, 2013, to praise from critics, who labeled it a return to form for the series. The game played more like a typical pirate adventure than an Assassin’s Creed title, employing ships and naval combat to fit the time period it was set in. It did, however, have its shortcomings, ranging from repetitive missions to clunky AI, all of which contribute to the rumored remake many fans are wishing for.
Upon the release of the franchise’s latest entry, Assassin’s Creed Shadows, an art book by the publisher Dark Horse was also released, with only five days between them. Past Assassin’s Creed entries have also seen the franchise collaborate with the publisher Titan as far back as 2012, often giving insight or background information into areas found in the games. With even Ubisoft acknowledging the Assassin’s Creed Black Flag remake rumors, it heavily hints that this project is real, and any subtle piece of information could give away key facts. With an Amazon listing that has gone live, some believe they have figured out when the release date of this rumored remake will be.
The Assassin’s Creed: Black Flag Remake Could Be Revealed This Week
More potential evidence for an Assassin’s Creed: Black Flag remake emerges, causing some fans to speculate that a big announcement is coming soon.
An Amazon Listing For Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Remaster Art Book Has Gone Live
As seen through an Amazon product page, a new art book releasing for the franchise is going by the name Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Remaster. This is another piece of evidence that contributes to the remake rumors, although it may give away a much bigger piece of information regarding the title. As mentioned earlier, Assassin’s Creed Shadows had its art book released five days after the game, with many previous entries having their art books released in similar windows. This new art book is currently up for pre-orders and set for release on March 24, 2026. If the previous entries are anything to go by, and despite an insider saying fans need to be patient for a Black Flag remake, the Assassin’s Creed Black Flag project could see a release as early as March 19, 2026.
Strangely enough, this art book labels the title a remaster, not a remake, which is a relatively big distinction. Remasters take the existing game and bump the graphics up to a higher resolution, and sometimes add new textures and content, while a remake completely recreates the game from the ground up, often in a new engine. There have been some amazing remasters that achieved great feats in recent memory, such as Oblivion Remastered becoming an instant hit, although remakes are usually considered of higher quality and longevity. If this upcoming Assassin’s Creed Black Flag project does turn out to be a remaster rather than a remake, it’s safe to say some fans may be disappointed.
Whether this art book gives the full story of Assassin’s Creed Black Flag‘s release status is not definite, and it could simply be that this is a target Ubisoft wants to hit, pushing the release further back otherwise. It could also be argued that Ubisoft would not list a release date for a product that might be delayed. That could just anger those who have pre-ordered, especially in this case, when fans are demanding Ubisoft reveal the Black Flag remake already. A feasible scenario is that Assassin’s Creed Black Flag has a remake or remaster aimed for release in March, but could ultimately be delayed, and it’s equally possible that the date is just a placeholder. Fans should stay positive, as there are many things that point to a remake arriving, and it could be the game that gives the Assassin’s Creed franchise the push it needs to return to its former glory.
