Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced Quietly Improves Hated Feature

Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced Quietly Improves Hated Feature

Ubisoft has quietly released an update for Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced that, in some instances, removes one of the most hated features of any Assassin’s Creed game in recent years. Of course, this is mostly a visual thing, so fans shouldn’t expect any major changes to gameplay in Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced until Ubisoft releases any major updates for it.

Still, it’s good to know that Ubisoft is keen to support Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced with the little things. Not only has it been a critical and commercial success for Ubisoft, but it’s also potentially a tone setter. Fans clearly like 99% of the game, but meeting the 1% can make a real difference, and that difference could translate to better sentiment around the AC IP heading into the next mainline release in Assassin’s Creed Hexe (reportedly in 2027).

Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced Review: A Grand Prize

From the ground up, Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced is nothing short of a massive improvement over the already-great 2013 game.

Be Gone, Kassandra Pose

Throughout the new content in Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced, Edward Kenway will often strike the colloquially known Kassandra Pose, so called for the way Kassandra did it so often in Assassin’s Creed Odyssey (which is also in part due to how long the game is). While it was fine in that one game, it has continued to appear in nearly every Ubisoft game since then (not just Assassin’s Creed ones) and has become something noticeable and possibly immersion-breaking in every game. To be fair, it’s a real kind-of-awkward standing pose, but the proliferation thereof is where fans have taken issue with it.

Now, Ubisoft has at least changed one instance of the Kassandra Pose in Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced, if not a few others, as shared by The Hidden One. It’s unlikely, if not impossible, that Ubisoft removes the pose from the entire game, but it’s worth noting that Kenway remains awkward-looking in these scenes because of the way they are. As The Hidden One notes as well, Kenway looks a tad uncanny because fans aren’t used to seeing him with robotic-like movement, even in AC Black Flag Resynced‘s other cutscenes.

The Hidden One, as well as many fans, urge Ubisoft to continue the work and make these cutscenes stand out as they could. This doesn’t mark the end of the Kassandra Pose by any means, but perhaps Ubisoft will be more selective about its usage moving forward, even if it is a little minor detail. Many fans certainly wouldn’t mind it if Assassin’s Creed Hexe protagonist Anika never hit the Kassandra Pose—it’s almost like how dabs are now seen as “cringe.”

Regardless, it’s a nice change for the beloved pirate game, and it’ll be interesting to see if Ubisoft can keep the momentum of AC Black Flag Resynced‘s massive sales up. There’s no guarantee, but there’s hope, and that’s something.
