Following a recent update to Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced, fans noticed that a popular feature was no longer working as it was previously. Despite being one of the worst kept gaming industry secrets earlier in 2026, it didn’t manage to dampen any of the excitement from fans as Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced has quickly become a major hit for Ubisoft.

While building on the bones of an already popular entry in the Assassin’s Creed franchise certainly helped, the substantial improvements and upgrades also had a big impact on players. Moving the game into the Anvil Engine resulted in visual enhancements, the game’s stealth, parkour, and combat were also significantly improved over the original. Interestingly enough, Ubisoft was forced to completely rebuild Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced, as old assets and code were simply unusable and too outdated. Ultimately, it can be argued that this further enhanced the final product despite the added development work.

Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced Hood Toggle Was Quietly Removed

Following the launch of Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced, fans quickly discovered a toggle that would allow Edward to toggle his hood on or off while exploring the world, including during some of the more cinematic parts of the game like performing the Leap of Faith. With it, players were sharing some really impressive moments, like Zephryss, who showcased Edward doing a backflip into a hay cart while coolly pulling his hood over his head in midair.

As fun as the feature was, the 1.0.4 update for Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced has seemingly removed it. Following the arrival of the patch, the toggle function no longer works during the leap of faith, leaving many in the community frustrated and demanding the Ubisoft fixes the issue. Posts across social media and Reddit have called for Ubisoft to revert the change, though looking at the patch notes, it isn’t clear what may have caused it to happen. While Update 1.0.4 does resolve some clipping issues related to characters and clothing, there’s nothing specific mentioning the hood functionality. It’s possible that the change was simply an accident and not intentional at all.

For now, Ubisoft has yet to comment or address the frustrations of players. Thankfully, it seems that Ubisoft is pretty receptive to fans as not only has the social media account been very active over the past few weeks, it has taken player feedback into account for some of the previous updates already. With a highly requested New Game Plus mode also in development for Black Flag Resynced, it’s possible Ubisoft could find a way to revert the change in a future patch as well.

As well received as the game has been to this point, it has already been a part of a few controversial moments. Fans were less than enthused by the nearly $85 worth of day one microtransactions available at launch, forcing Ubisoft to comment on the situation and confirming they’re just optional and have no relevance to the story. The first weekend also saw a server outage for a brief period of time, which rendered Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced unplayable even with an offline option. The discovery frustrated some, while worrying others that the single-player game isn’t actually playable offline.
