Assassin’s Creed Hexe Gets Exciting and Encouraging Update

Assassin’s Creed Hexe Gets Exciting and Encouraging Update

Assassin’s Creed Hexe, which is widely expected to be the next mainline entry in the series after the rumored remake of Black Flag, has received an exciting and encouraging update from a trusted industry insider. Ubisoft has said very little on the development of Assassin’s Creed Hexe following its reveal four years ago, but it has now been claimed that “everyone at Ubisoft” is eager to work on the title as it is shaping up to be an exceptional game.

With Ubisoft undergoing some massive changes recently, Assassin’s Creed fans have rightly been concerned about what the studio’s restructuring could mean for the future of the iconic series. Although Ubisoft has cancelled numerous projects this year, including the highly anticipated Prince of Persia Remake, Assassin’s Creed appears to be one of the main franchises that the studio intends to focus on from here on out, along with Rainbow Six, Far Cry, and more. The studio’s CEO even recently confirmed that several new Assassin’s Creed games are currently in the works, along with two new Far Cry games.

New Pirate Game on Steam Makes Assassin’s Creed 4: Black Flag Look Like a Dinghy and Skull & Bones a Sandbox Toy

Assassin’s Creed 4’s all-but-confirmed remake and Skull and Bones’ continued support are great and all, but this Steam game may have both beat.

Insider Says Everyone At Ubisoft Wants To Work On Assassin’s Creed Hexe

As was revealed in 2022, one of the several Assassin’s Creed games in development is Codename Hexe, described by Ubisoft as a “very different type of Assassin’s Creed game.” With the release of Assassin’s Creed Shadows in 2025 and rampant speculation surrounding a remake of the iconic Assassin’s Creed 4: Black Flag, very little has been said about Hexe. However, it looks like development on the title is progressing well, as industry insider Tom Henderson recently said in a new post on Twitter that “everyone at Ubisoft” wants to work on Hexe due to how well the game is shaping up to be.

Henderson’s statement came as a sort of reassurance to fans following the news that Assassin’s Creed Hexe had lost its creative director. Clint Hocking, who is a Ubisoft veteran, having worked on the original Splinter Cell, Far Cry 2, and many more, left the studio this month. Although it is massively disappointing to see such an anticipated title lose a veteran developer, Ubisoft has confirmed that work on Hexe will continue, with Jean Guesdon now at the helm as the new creative director.

Guesdon is not only the new creative director for Codename Hexe, but also the new head of content for the franchise after Ubisoft recently appointed a new leadership team for Assassin’s Creed. Guesdon is joined by Martin Schelling, head of the Assassin’s Creed brand, who will lead the franchise team, the overall strategy, and the long-term vision of the series. François De Billy, who has previously worked on the likes of Assassin’s Creed Revelations, Black Flag, Origins, and Valhalla, was also given a new role in the restructuring: head of production excellence. Ubisoft says De Billy will support the studio’s teams by strengthening production practices and execution across the franchise.

While it seems like things are looking positive for the Assassin’s Creed franchise, there’s no word on when fans will get to see more from Codename Hexe. However, if rumors are to be believed, Ubisoft is currently gearing up to reveal a remake of Assassin’s Creed 4: Black Flag. Should that be the case (which seems increasingly likely, with new leaks occurring nearly every week), the studio won’t want to make any other major announcements pertaining to the series at the same time. Although merely speculation, it seems unlikely that any news about Codename Hexe will arrive in 2026.
