Assassin’s Creed Producer Addresses Fan Concerns About Lack of Blood in Black Flag Resynced Reveal

After years of countless rumors and leaks, Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced has finally had its first official reveal. This announcement came alongside a lengthy 28-minute showcase, detailing some of Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced‘s biggest changes and new additions. While there was a lot of information for fans to sink their teeth into, some couldn’t help but notice a lack of blood during the trailer’s combat sequences. One of the game’s producers came in quickly to set the record straight.

An Assassin’s Creed Black Flag remake was first rumored all the way back in June 2023, when Kotaku claimed that Ubisoft had officially greenlit a full remake of the fan-favorite 2013 entry. Insider Gaming claimed the following year that the Black Flag remake was indeed in development, but that it had been delayed along with the rest of the franchise’s in-development slate to allow for more work on Assassin’s Creed Shadows. The rumor mill really started to pick up speed in December of last year, with Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced‘s title being leaked via a PEGI listing and other smaller leaks pointing to the game’s seemingly imminent reveal. But in January, Ubisoft’s sweep of layoffs, cancellations, and studio restructurings allegedly delayed the remake once more.

Rumor: Assassin’s Creed Hexe Could Be Losing One of Its Defining Features

Assassin’s Creed Hexe could be changing in a big way, with new series boss Jean Guesdon reportedly taking away a major feature.

Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced Producer Says “There WILL Be Blood in the Final Game”

Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced is real, and it has a current release date of July 9, 2026. During its initial reveal and gameplay deep-dive, Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced showed off just about every feature that fans would be curious about, from naval combat to ship customization to the return of the controversial tailing missions found in the original. But one segment of the showcase that garnered a great deal of attention was its montage of ground combat sequences.

Just like its predecessors, the original 2013 version of Assassin’s Creed Black Flag featured animation-based ground combat. While flashy, this combat system was infamously a tad too easy, with players simply being able to press the counter button and chain-assassinate their way through waves upon waves of enemy guards. In Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced, a more active, deliberate combat system is being implemented, one that requires carefully-timed parries and caps the number of consecutive chain assassinations at four.

While these mechanical differences were a big talking point for fans following Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced‘s official reveal, there was something that wasn’t shown in these combat sequences that garnered almost just as much attention. Some fans noticed a lack of blood effects during the game’s showcase. This was particularly noticeable whenever the trailer showed player-character Edward Kenway dishing out a finisher with his trademark dual swords, with many of the same takedowns from the original being used again in the remake, sans the gore.

Soon after the showcase aired, Ubisoft Singapore and Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced producer Justin Ng took to Twitter to address these concerns. The producer confirmed that “There WILL be blood in the final game, and it will not be a paid DLC.” Ng also stated that the VFX and audio cues during combat were going to be “toned down,” addressing some fans’ complaints that the game’s combat looked a little too exaggerated and unnatural in the showcase due to bright parry indicators and sword spark effects.
