Fans of Astro Bot are pointing out a perfect opportunity for a limited edition DualSense controller courtesy of the trailer shown during Sony’s State of Play. On May 30, Sony hosted a State of Play, a broadcast showcasing games coming soon to the PS5. The final game shown at the presentation was Astro Bot, a brand-new follow-up to the PS5 pack-in title Astro’s Playroom. Developed by Team Asobi, Astro Bot is a full-fledged 3D platformer following the adorable robot through over 80 stages.
Astro Bot is a celebration of PlayStation’s history. In the previous title, Astro’s Playroom, references and Easter eggs to other PlayStation properties abound. A large part of the game’s appeal was a celebration of PlayStation. As a pack-in title for the PS5, this worked wonders for the system. Based on the trailer for Astro’s Playroom, the follow seems to follow in its predecessor’s footsteps. In the trailer for Astro Bot, a wide variety of iconic PlayStation imagery was on display. Uncharted, Journey, PaRappa the Rapper and more were all showcased during the trailer.

Astro Bot Gives Potential For A New DualSense Controller
Beyond PlayStation franchises being shown, PlayStation hardware is also plentiful in the game. This includes the PS5’s DualSense controller. But the controller looks a little different in the trailer than it usually does. The DualSense featured in the Astro Bot trailer is designed to resemble the game’s titular character. On the touchpad are Astro Bot’s eyes, while the grips are the same blue hue that Astro Bot sports. There are even lines on the controller to match Astro Bot’s robotic parts. The DualSense also has a set of wings, allowing Astro Bot to fly on it. With certain editions of Astro Bot, players will also receive different skins for the in-game DualSense. Reddit user GodOfAllSimps took to the PlayStation subreddit to ask their fellow fans if they think the in-game design will ever see an official release from Sony.
Some users like Man_mannly said that they could envision the controller releasing as part of a bundle for Astro Bot, including the game, this controller, and a steelbook. Others, like Broerio, said that they could see the controller launching alongside a PS5 Pro. Some fans have even been making concept art for an Astro Bot controller. The one thing that was agreed upon throughout the thread is that fans absolutely love the design of the DualSense in Astro Bot. Now that fans have seen this design in-game, they think it would make the perfect limited edition controller.
Astro Bot is set to launch on PS5 on September 5. Fans of the little robot are crossing their fingers that they’ll be able to experience the game with a limited edition Astro Bot DualSense in hand. It would be the perfect way to be immersed in the world of Astro Bot.
